Crick, Harris, and Butler

are the only picks i could see. Brockers is a huge reach and we dont reach in the first. I also dont see us picking a RB, we will either keep Goodson or sign some cheap FA, 3rd RB isnt that important and they can be had cheaply.

I also dont see us cutting Butler. He isnt making much money and he would be a very good nickel/dime. It also makes no since to cut AE or Neblett, neither are making much money, AE is still developing, and Neblett is a solid rotational guy

The reaseon we cut

Butler is because we have to many corners i mean having gamble, munnerlyn, harris, stanford, hogan, butler and thomas is to many
and for neblet its the same thing having brockers, mclain, fua, edwards, shirley and neblet is to much

by billy201 on Feb 4, 2012 2:35 PM EST up reply actions

You'd cut Butler

But keep Stanford and Thomas (who I forgot was on the team)? That doesn’t make any sense.

Mackenzy Bernadaeu Geoff Hangartner are free agents

You haven’t mentioned anywhere about resigning them.

by Sukhan on Feb 4, 2012 2:19 PM EST reply actions

Hangartner is still under contract

Source?

Everything I’ve seen, including Rotoworld, shows him as a free agent.

Or just actually knowing the players on the team

It really just completely ruins your credibility (at least in my eyes) when you misspell half the players’ names. Makes me wonder if you really know all that much about what you’re talking about.

Neblett and Kearse were bright spots at DT

I would not cut them unless they get beat at training camp.

by Atlantapanther on Feb 4, 2012 3:08 PM EST reply actions

Even if they get beat in training camp

There’s reason to believe that Neblett has been our best DT over the past two years.

No cut Thomas Davis on the list?

He is due $8 million in bonus. Ron Edwards should be on the cut list, will be 33 years old and go after Pat Simms from the bengals. Laron Landry will probably be franchise tag. Why wait until the 4th round to draft a corner back?

by adam carter on Feb 4, 2012 3:53 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Cutting Neblett and Kearse would be crazy. As would be cutting Butler, but keeping Thomas.

You could make the case that Neblett and Kearse were the best DT’s on the roster last year, and Butler was one of the most consistent players at CB last year. Also, Why do you have us picking 6th overall? We have either the 8th or the 9th pick right now.

Agreed on Neblet, Kearse

The run defense improved noticeably when Neblet & Kearse became starters. Neblett picked up two and a half sacks while Kearse was credited with a half from the nose position.
Adding Brockers would solidify the DT position for a decade. Picking up a corner in the second round, in the best defensive back class in a decade would also solidify THAT position.
Brockers is not a reach. He’s Haynesworth with a competitive attitude and a work ethic.
Brockers and Kearse could be the new “B-K Grill” for the Panthers inside line for a decade.

by criolle on Feb 4, 2012 6:29 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed on Neblett and Kearse, but I have to disagree on Brockers.

He’s too raw to provide much of an impact in the immediate future, his leverage is poor, he has no burst, and he lacks pass rushing skills which we need.
But I do like the “B-K Grill” nickname, lol.

*Also, William Vlachos went to Alabama, not Baylor.

Can we restructure J Stew?

Isn’t next season his last under his rookie deal? And how the hell are we drafting 6th in this scenario??

by whiskeytango77 on Feb 4, 2012 7:01 PM EST reply actions

I hadn't even noticed that.

I would guess that "restruturing" JStew would be extending him

But I’m not sure that’s really on option. Since he’s currently on the cheap because of a rookie contract, I would think any extension would cause his cap hit to increase – so I’m not sure it makes sense to do so.

As for picking sixth, he said in another thread that this mock draft is old, and he just posted it now. Not really sure why he bothered to post it without updating it first, but that’s the reason.

Bro, you spelled Kasay wrong.

And, no, it would be prudent to keep Mare.

WRONG

first we pick at number 8 or 9 depending a coin flip after the super bowl is over. Next you cut the one guy DT in the middle that actually did any thing Andre Neblet. The rookie DT we drafted should have been on this list because we had ppl to come off the street and play better than those guys Jason Shirley 2.5 sacks off the street

by KillerCam252 on Feb 5, 2012 12:16 PM EST reply actions

Yes, we would make the playoffs with this roster.

Because this roster has Davis, Beason and Anderson at the three LB spots.

We need a nose tackle.
