I mentioned this in a precombine mock i did for the panthers, but I'll mention again. It seems the Bears and Panthers have a decent trade relationship (Chris Harris back and forth, Greg Olsen) in recent history, so why not see if they would swap spots with us in the first and give us their 2nd and 3rd rounder. They would still have our 3rd rounder from the Olsen trade, so really they would only be losing out on their 2nd round pick:
Panthers picks:
1st round pick 19 from Bears
2nd round pick 8
2nd round pick 19 from Bears
3rd round pick 19 from Bears
Bears picks:
1st round pick 9 from Panthers
3rd round pick 9 from Panthers (Olsen trade)
The Bears move up 10 spots and get a top 10 talent, and we get an extra second and move back into the 3rd round. History shows the Bears don't care much about value (Chris Harris for a 5th, Olsen for a 3rd), and have close to $30 million in cap space to play with in free agency, so I think they might be willing to make this trade to get a guy they like coming out of the draft.
The Panthers can get one of the top DT's like Poe, or Fletcher Cox, and it's possible Jenkins is still available at 19 so we could get a top CB if Hurney thinks he's BPA. Really it opens up tons of doors for us, as the top half of this draft is loaded with talent.
What do you guys think about this deal?
