After looking at the pic on the front page, I'd say that LaRon Landry would win in a fight vs the 2, but in an agility test, I would think Chuck would win that contest. I have no scientific information on either of those 2 scenarios, but what do you think?
Anyway, onto things that I can judge in a fairly realistic manner: Charles Godfrey has been a little more durable in his career, missing only 6 games in his 4 year career. Landry, not quite as lucky missing 16 games in the last 3 out of 5 seasons. Despite the obvious physical distinctions, they have posted similar numbers in their playing time:
Games Played - Solo Tackles - Sacks - Pass Defensed - INTs - Forced Fumbles
Laron Landry : 64 - 291 - 5.5 - 32 - 4 - 6
Charles Godfrey : 58 - 223 - 2 - 25 - 9 - 7
Statistacaly speaking, there isnt really a glaring difference seperating the 2. What Godfrey gives up in tackles, he makes up for in turnovers, plus the fact that Landry wasnt playing behind a pro-bowl LB who has been scooping up the majority of tackles for us over the past few seasons (Jon Beason). I really don't see how Landry would improve our defense much. The past 2 seasons, he's been fighting an achilies injury, while Godfrey has been pretty durable, plus the fact that we have Godfrey under contract until 2016, (700k base salary - 5mil bonus option for 2012) I see no reason to persue the hulk that is Landry. I think we'd be better off getting some help along the D-Line, or someone like Terrell Thomas (CB for Giants) who was injured this season, so we may be able to get him on the cheap, but has forced 17 turnovers in 3 seasons, and is a force in the run defense as well.
