CSR's Tribute to Whitney Houston...who sang the National Anthem like no other before the 1991 Super Bowl. Still gives me chills to this day.

At that point, how can you not say "F*** it. This is as good as it gets."

And have her do the National Anthem EVERY year?

ACC Championship Member Brandon Thompson is the new Jacoby Ford. You better pick him Panthers or you will be doomed to relive the 2010 season over and over again in the Twilight Zone.

Clemson 2011 ACC Champions! Look forward to doing it again next year! :D

You may be right and you are entitled to your opinion

Part of my bias is the timing and the manner in which she sang it. Just after the start of the Gulf War, for me my little brother had been deployed…it is a lasting memory and feeling for me. (Bro came home fine by the way)

My god. I cant even escape her death here?

I mean, come on guys. I understand its slow in the offseason, but how does whitney houston singing the national anthem in a superbowl before the panthers were even a team worthy of being on the front page?

I get it. She can sing well. But she chose a life of drugs and it led to her death. Our soldiers die every day. There are millions of starving children throughout the world.

Yet we go ape shit bc some lady who was born with a natural ability to sing (singing is not earned keep in mind) died because she was a drug addict.

Dont get me wrong, its not like im happy she died. But there are plenty more people who deserve our sympathy than a famous millionaire whose own choices led to their demise.

Have you tried singing to earn your keep?

As a veteran myself I would of course wish that service members lives were honored and cherished in a similar fashion, but that’s not the world we live in. I’m also not going to defend her choices. But I will defend her ability to sing. Singing is not as easy as it looks, takes years and years of practice to do it well. People aren’t just born that can sing like that. But plenty of folks will readily ooh and ahh over Cam’s ability to throw, run and his size and those are natural abilities he’s honed over the years. If God forbid something were to happen to him even if it were a series of bad choices on his part that were to lead to it, members of this community would be shocked and saddened.

People find inspiration in the oddest places. Some find it in the “natural” abilities of others, whether is be writing, singing, performing, acting, or driving a racecar. Sometimes there are the rare people that pass through this world that inspire us average folks to aspire to be something more with their talent. When they leave too soon, whatever the circumstances may be, it causes some of us to reflect and appreciate a particular moment in our lives. For some of us, that anthem at that particular time, is a memory. One of those moments where I remember where I was and who I was with. She just so happened to have been a person who helped create several of those memories in life for millions of others.

I put it up based on my previous comment...

It was a tribute…one time thing.

Still the best anthem I've ever heard. Untouchable

If you are already 'Whitney'ed Out' my apologies...

it is off topic.

The tribute is simply to the person who sang the National Anthem the best I ever heard at a very emotional time in US history. Without which of course our great sport does not exist…not trying to be a downer or condescending, just explaining why I put it up

You don't have to explain anything Jaxon. This is your house.

No need to be sorry... infact this is part of the history RICH history of football

It does relate too the Panthers because one day every fan wants too be in that moment. Of the game soon to be kicking off and hearing that Song and feeling that moment…. as you get your cheese dip ready and your dog out tooo pee one more time before your favorite team kicks off.

They should honestly just put that recording on any time they need the National Anthem sung.

She absolutely nailed it (and by all accounts it’s a difficult song) and you could tell it was easy for her.

Such a talent.
