Walter Football 2007 Draft Re-mock
This article made me a little angry. Beason is one of the best LBs in the game and they have him going 11th in the 2007 draft. Him going 11th means that he does not get the respect he deserves. They have Dwayne Bowe, Leon Hall, and Marshal Yanda going before him. There are other people I could argue about but him going 11th and being the 4th LB drafted just gets under my skin.
I know I am probably a little Carolina biased but Beason is a perenial pro-bowler and has been a leader for our team. I just wish he would get the respect I think he deserves. By the end of his hopefully Hall of Fame career, I hope he gets the credit he deserves.

I wouldn't get too worked up about it.
2007 was a big time year for linebackers in the draft. Beason has stood out nicely and is widely considered one of the top 5 middle linebackers in the league. It’s hard to be “sexy” as a 4-3 middle linebacker. It’s a dirty job and Beason is one of the best at it. J.R. has given him his respect in the form of $$$. I could care less what anyone else thinks.

Second best ILB of that class
And still great? I’ll take it. Instead of getting upset at that article I found a new respect for Hurney’s drafting skills as we had three players that would have been chosen top 15.

Yea I noticed that.
It just made me upset when I saw Woodley and Timmons over Beason. Hopefully Hurney can keep it up.

You really can't compare.........
3-4 guys to 4-3 guys that way. Beason is going to blow them away with his tackle numbers, but Woodley and Timmons are going to have far more sacks. It’s just the nature of the defenses they play in. Sacks are “sexy” stats that get peoples attention, tackles are not.

Did you also notice that there were 3 Panthers in the top 15?
In Hurney we trust
I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was
The only guy picked in the first three rounds that year who is not on the list?...
Duhwayne Jarrett.
We need a nose tackle.
I hear he's going #1 overall in Beer Leagues though...

Strictly playing Devils' advocate here...
Did Fox still have input in the draft in 2007? Did he ever have all that much say?
I’m just thinking about JR’s quote, you know, ’we’re gonna do it our way from now on…’
We need a nose tackle.
