WTF is this sh**?!
Charles Johnson did not play that poorly and it seems like the writer is the firs person to put him down. I don’t see Stewart being traded, especially with the depth he brings to the offense. I would bring up more, but I just brain dumped everything that was said in that article due to its idiocy. One more thing, while I have no doubt Cam will reach 4500 yards passing, he won’t rush for a 1000.

If you’re happy with that large of a contract producing 40 tackles and 9 sacks you’re content with mediocrity.

Did you see the DT's he had playing beside him?
He is our ONLY reliable pass rusher, and is excellent at stopping the run. CJ is well worth the contract we gave him.

Considering the fact that he was the only D-Lineman worth 10 cents...those numbers are quite extraordinary.

Chuck johnson
This year he was tied for 21st in sacks last year he was 7th. I’m pretty sure you guys didn’t lose any pro bowl DTs last offseason. Therefore not as productive in his new contract.

No but we lost our Pro Bowl LB and were starting 2 rookies at DT.
It helps to actually know something about the team if you want to write an article about their deficiencies.

As BW said
Even if we didn’t “lose” anybody, he still had two rookies starting beside him. And since when is just sacks a measurement for how good a DE, or even a LB is? Would you take Jason Babin over Jason Pierre Paul? Andre Carter over Justin Tuck? Rob Ninkovich over Clay Mathews? Cause if we’re following your logic then you would take the first player in every situation. Unless you have something better than “he was 21st in sacks”, then i wouldn’t write and post articles proclaiming his contract as too much.

not to mention we had one of those rookies starting because of a starting dt going down before that

He had 40 tackles. If he was so good in run support I think he would gain a few more sacks. You don't want to know how far down 40 tackles ranks in the league.
by erniesimmons5 on Feb 1, 2012 6:22 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
when does a de have a boat load of tackles
You dont need to make a play all the time fact is as I said earlier alot of the tackles he had went for losses just maybe that would lead a team to go in another direction with the ball its not that difficult to comprehend, fuck I did.

Once again
DE’s aren’t supposed to have massive amounts of tackles. If you go back and read an article that was posted on here a few days ago, he was ranked 10th (pretty positive) for run defense at defensive end. Do you even watch the games or just look at stats?

Based on his profile information from the site he's pimping, he's a Bucs fan...
Apparently, he’s just butt hurt because the Panthers stomped his boys’ asses twice this year.

That would explain it.
I’d be upset too if my team just hired a college coach with a .500 career record.

We need discipline in Tampa, which shiano brings. Bilicheck endorsed him, I'd take that

You need more than discipline.
"What do you want to say to those critics now?"

So he's 10th best in run support 21st in pass rush. If you're happy with that then so be it.
by erniesimmons5 on Feb 2, 2012 2:31 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Well, considering there are 64 starting DEs in the league...
Those numbers aren’t terrible.
And let’s not conveniently ignore that he was 2nd in the league (regardless of position) in tackles for loss.
We need a nose tackle.
by ERL on Feb 2, 2012 2:43 PM EST up reply actions
Considering he had NO ONE playing beside him, 21st out of 64 is pretty good
You aren’t going to win this argument. CJ is a great player.
"What do you want to say to those critics now?"
"Just sit back and watch the show." -Cam Newton
Which is why he needs another good player opposite of him which I've been saying the entire argument
by erniesimmons5 on Feb 2, 2012 11:23 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Having a big NT to his left would eliminate some of the T/G double teams.
And having a top-flight DE on the other side would pull the TE to the other side on occasion.
Finally, being able to blitz more often would move the RB inside to pick up the blitz, preventing him from chipping the DEs.
We need a nose tackle.

In other words...
He needs an ass-load of help.
We need a nose tackle.

You've been saying
How he didn’t perform up to his contract.

I think my point was made
CJ was the only guy doing anything and unlike another CJ in the league, Big Money actually played hard all season. Kinda hard to get pressures when your DTs are young and unable to help rush the QB or stop the run.

Thats why they need to draft a DE in the 1st round to relieve some pressure of him, as was said.

noone is disagreeing with you on that, I dont think
A good de opposite Johnson is one way to go for sure I wouldnt object to taking one.

For the Johnson part I dont agree fully
He did only have nine sacks but missing in this is that he was playing injured in few games and allthough I dont where he ended up he was tops in the league in tackles for a loss and the gap he was responsible for was the best as far as run defense goes at only allowing 3.9 yards a carry. He is what he is a good not great pass rusher and very good run stopper hope next year the numbers go up but I wouldnt say I am disapointed.

as far as Stewart being traded
They did a good job structuring the Williams deal in it that he got the bulk of it last year so we might be able to keep him around and trading a running back now a days is just about dumb because they dont really draw a lot of value. I just hope that in making a finacial comitment like that to Williams means they are going to make a similar one to stewart who is more consistent of the two and has more left in the tank IMO.

Only thing in this article I agree with is the possibility of drafting Ingram.
Correction: I agree that Cam will throw for 4500 yards, but only because with an improved offense the Panthers will be on offense more often. I see the team going to a balanced attack with Cam running a little less…not more.
"I may be old but...eh, I forget the rest!"
Cammy
Not because he was a rookie and threw for 4,000 and would naturally get better his second year?
by erniesimmons5 on Feb 1, 2012 4:34 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
I expect less games with 400 yards and more games with 300 yards passing.
Due to a more balanced offense.
"I may be old but...eh, I forget the rest!"
Look at this though the top 4 passing yardage games for cam last year where all losses
I dont think cam has to be a 4000 yard plus passer for us to win right now with our backs he just needs to be more efficient. He has got to know that his footwork lead to alot of problems this year and will adress it. I think the biggest factor in his passing yardage is what we can get out of Gettis who is our tallest and fastest wr. Cam throws a nice longball.

not really sure if that was sarcastic or not but
When you look at all the qbs around the league and their worst seasons were usually their rookie years and they had offseasons

I don't think he will pass for 4000 yards next year.

his last 2 statements are the only ones realistic or reasonable to me
-Cam Newton will have 4,500 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards
-The Carolina Panthers will go 11-5 in 2012
I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was
agreed
The 1000 yard rushing is kinda pushing it but that’s the only sensible things in that article
by rscott94 on Feb 1, 2012 7:37 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
I also agree with that
his versatility will always be there but I dont think five years from now there will be as many designed cam runs.

Oh so you don't think it's a great bonus to get jon beason back, you don't think it's smart to get a valuable pass rusher in the draft, and you don't think they can get 11 wins.
by erniesimmons5 on Feb 1, 2012 11:32 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Beason coming back is great
I’m not campaigning for a pass rusher in the 1st but if we draft one I guess I’ll be alright with it
I don’t think we can get 11 wins….. I think we’ll get more than 11. Seriously I’d be more than happy with 11
by rscott94 on Feb 2, 2012 1:12 AM EST via mobile up reply actions
yea i wouldn't be completely surprised with 12. They're a scary team. These Panthers fans just get so offended from any type of criticism toward their team when every team is not perfect and needs improvement.

I agree, we could use a DE in the first, but for different reasons.
We need pass rushers. At times last year, our pass rush was worse than our run defense, leaving our meager secondary out to dry.
