CSR OT Open Thread, Vol. 7
It's a new week, which means it's time to start up another OT Open Thread to give us a place to have our non-Panthers discussions, especially since there's not that much Panthers news to discuss now that our season is over, and we can really only handle so much draft talk before we start going insane.
As usual, here's a refresher course of the rules:
This is the place where you can talk about almost anything you want, and we prefer you start any off-topic conversations here to help keep the front page articles focused on the Panthers (after all, this is a Panthers site).
Please keep in mind that while this is an "open thread", the rules of CSR still apply. Play nice with each other, don't bring up politics and/or religion, and don't post NSFW images or use words that you wouldn't say in front of your mother. (Ok...we'll be lenient on the language...but let's try to keep the F-bombs to a minimum.)
Feel free to use this space as your "community cafe" so to speak, where you can discuss movies, music, tv shows, food, or anything else you want to discuss, so long as it adheres to the rules.
Also, please be sure to rec this thread so it stays near the top of the fanpost section to ensure everyone who wants to join in can easily locate it, and be sure to "unrec" the previous OT thread so it will disappear from the sidebar since it will no longer be relevant once this thread gets started.
Okay Panthers fans, this is now an off-topic open thread!
The content of these posts are those of the user/fan making the post only

So much to be done, and so few people willing to do it for me.
Now that should be green

I’m listening in right now as Frank Beamer is telling Ja Wand Blue, “you lied to me.” #VaTech #Canes
Matt Porter @mattyports Close
Blue is telling Frank Beamer, “I wanted to stay home.” Beamer: “This doesn’t make any sense. I’ve never felt more betrayed or lied to.”
Matt Porter @mattyports Close
Beamer, to Blue: “You want to go to a program that wins bowl games, a clean program, that dominates in the ACC?”
Matt Porter @mattyports Close
Beamer: “It would be a blessing for you to go away for school. I promise. You’ve got homeboys here. … We need you. We’re counting on you.”

Ja Wand Blue is listening to Beamer speak his piece. This is incredibly awkward.

What's everyone's go-to Cookout meal?
I’m partial to the Spicy Chicken tray with cajun fries and hush puppies. Cheerwine to drink or if I’m going for a milkshake then either Cherry Chocolate Chip or Cheesecake Cherry Cobbler.

2 Corn dogs as sides.
Sweet Tea to drink, or if I’m feeling like going for the full Lardo special… Reese’s cup milkshake.

I cannot read the article because the ad keeps blocking everything.

Awesome analogy for the Super Bowl...
The game is the sporting equivalent of your mother discovering Facebook, an exercise in awkward forced sporting community-building sponsored by Visa, aimed toward a demographic that by including everyone does not exist. With so many stakeholders, and so much invested in a single game, the Super Bowl as an entity is a gilded platypus, all flippers and spare parts tacked together by a committee made up of the most shameless, reptilian souls on the planet.

Is it me?
Or is anyone else having problems seeing the CSR page? I’m only able to navigate through various stories because it cuts off on the Peyton vs. Eli debate by Revshawn (which only shows the title — I can’t read any of that article at all, let alone comment on it) on the front page, and none of the right sidebar stuff for the fanposts or fanshots are showing up. I’m using IE (because I just inherited a Windows 7 machine, and Firefox keeps crashing on this computer for some reason), if that helps anything.
Nah, bro.
Although the last two days I’ve been getting a ‘connection reset’ page about every other time I try to go back to the homepage. I just click the “try again” button and it works. I don’t know if that’s at all related to your issue.
We need a nose tackle.
I haven't noticed any problems.
But I would suggest figuring out why Firefox doesn’t work, because to me, using IE is the equivalent of being kicked in the nuts repeatedly. :-)
Have you tried using Chrome or Opera? It could be an IE issue (seriously).

Chrome eats up my processor.
Or it did on my previous PC. My roommate, who I inherited this computer from, had the exact same problem with Chrome, removed it within a day or so.
As for Firefox, I think I’m gonna uninstall it and then reinstall, see if perhaps the installation was corrupted somehow. If it works, I’m definitely switching back to Firefox (because that’s really my browser of choice).
Yeah FF is a great browser.

Heh, you were right!
It was an IE issue — just loaded Firefox 10.0 onto the system, and everything came right up. Hopefully it won’t crash on me like Firefox was doing with my roommate before.
In the meantime, a couple of amusing pics for when we want people to “stay on topic”:

I'm glad FF10 worked out. So far it seems to be an improvement over FF9.

Wow, now espn is trying to make the case that RG3 will be even better than Cam Newton, and will surpass Newton’s rookie passing mark next year. F*cking really??? Guy hasn’t even gone to the combine yet and they are already talkin this crap?

Not likely. Andrew Luck is going to blow RG3 out of the water.
And quick size comparing.
RG3: 6 foot 2 and 220 pounds.
Cam Newton: 6 foot 5 and 248 pounds.
Big boy beats little boy. And where are those guys who are supposed to say he’s to small to play QB? Why isn’t this argument being made this time around?

Luck and RG3 both have a snowballs chance in hell of touching Cam’s numbers next year IMO. I know it is a passing league now but we throw the ball deep A LOT. they MIGHT beat 21 TD’s 17 Int’s but they wont touch passing yards. Not even going to talk about rushing…

Truth be told, passing number in general were a bit inflated this season.
There were 10 QBs with over 4,000 passing yards, 3 QBs with over 5,000 passing yards.
There were also 2 or 3 other QBs that probably would have been around 4,000 passing yards if they hadn’t been injured.
I think having no offseason really hurt defenses.
I think defenses will be a little bit tougher next season.
That said, I still expect the QBs to make a lot of plays, but I don’t expect to see multiple 400 yard games from very many QBs next season.
