The Panthers won the coin toss for the first time this season and never looked back. They built a 23-0 lead and then held on after a brief Falcons 2nd half run to finally close out a team.
This game was all Cam Newton and the Panthers ball hogging offense. The Panthers controlled the clock 23 minutes to 7 in the first half limiting the Falcons chances. Once the Falcons pulled within 10 points in 4th quarter the defense stepped up again. On 4th down LB Thomas Davis picked off Matt Ryan pass and on the ensuing possession DeAngelo Williams took a Newton pass to the house.
Cam Newton's stat line: 23 for 35 for 287 yards and 2 TDs
Add in 118 yards rushing and a TD and you have an exceptional performance from the 2nd year QB.
Additional key performances:
- WR Steve Smith caught 7 balls for 109 yards
- RB DeAngelo Williams rushed for 56 yards and caught passes for 56 yards and a score on 19 total touches
- Uncle Luke Kuechly was again all over the field finishing with 11 tackles and 5 assists.
- LB Thomas Davis had the defensive play of the day with the 4th down INT
- DE Greg Hardy made good on his prediction and added a couple tackles and
the Panthers onlya sack - K Graham Gano converted all of his kicks, including 3 for 3 on FGs in the 2nd quarter

This win with a secondary at the end of DJ Campbell, Colin Jones, James Dockery, Josh Thomas and Captain Munnerlyn. Wow what a great win Panther fans!
