When I read the comments in the open threads I often find people discussing things they wish or think will happen in the off season. As I watched the Army vs Navy game I decided I would make a post about it. Today's topic is on what to do with Jon Beason. I've seen people say the Panthers should trade him, Keep him but restructure his contract and others just leave him the way he is. I will provide reasons to do each.
Trade him- In the defense his spot has been replaced by Luke Kuechly and there are questions on whether he can play weak-side linebacker. The Panthers have 2 decent linebackers and a god at linebacker without Beason. Hes had two season ending injuries in the last two seasons so its not certain he can stay healthy. He could be traded for some pretty good value. Most likely with a New GM and coaching staff they will want to build the defense around one player which will be Kuechly.
Restructure his contract- Maybe he can still be that dominating force that he used to be but one things for certain he costs too much money.
Leave him the way he is- He can still play really good and play like the BAMF player he used to play like. Plus its disrespectful to cut his salary after everything hes done for the team.
I would fill the bottom two in more but there's not that much more to be said.
I personally think they should put him on the block and see what teams offer and if theres not anything interesting leave him the way he is.
I'm interested in hearing your opinions!
