Hire Chris Ault as an Offensive Assistant / Consultant & forget Chip Kelly

Chris Ault has announced that he's retiring as the HC at Nevada, and some smart team(s) will hire him as an Offensive Consultant. Ault is 66 years old, so I doubt he would want any fulltime job, but he's the brilliant offensive mind that invented the Pistol Offense.

So why hire Oregon HC Chip Kelly, who want's total control over the team, but lacks NFL experience, when you could get Ault, without the risk of turning the whole team over to someone with no NFL experience?

If the Panthers gamble on Chip Kelly, and he fails, then the team is setback at least 3-4 years (or more), as he installs his offense, and stocks the team with his type of players. If Kelly fails as HC, his replacement will have to start rebuilding from scratch. However, if Ault fails, very little is lost, maybe 1 season is lost.

The Pistol Offense is the perfect fit for Cam and the Panthers. It's a fast paced, hurry-up offense, that puts 4 receivers on the field at once, and hides the RB a few yards behind the QB in it's setup. It allowed Colin Kaepernick to pass for over 10,000 yards, and run for over 4,000 yards in his 4 seasons, while he and the 2 RB's all rushed for 1,000 yards in a couple of seasons.

UPDATE: "...(Ault) made a specific point of stating that he is not retiring ... (leading to) speculation that Ault could be looking to coach in the NFL, and Ault didn't rule that out..."
