In light of our move to better reform CSR, and assist in a more friendly environment, many of you requested an update to our near-three-year old code of conduct. After discussion and review, here it is. If you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to bring them up.

Code of Conduct

"By agreeing to these terms of service you are not only gaining the privilege to post on Cat Scratch Reader, but also acknowledging that you will help uphold this site's mission. This goal is to promote respectful, insightful discussion in an environment free from personal attack, trolling, and any other behavior not specifically mentioned, but otherwise counter to these goals.

Cat Scratch Reader defines trolling as "any post that is made with the purpose of eliciting a response through antagonistic means". This is further defined by deriding another's opinion without justification, continual re-iteration of a previously settled topic in order to re-start past arguments, and any personal attacks.

These violations, specifically trolling and personal attacks are subject to moderation including a warning. In extreme cases, a permanent ban may be issued at the discretion of the editorial team.

In addition, we promote an environment that welcomes all users regardless of age, sex, religion, race, or sexual orientation. To this end, any hate speech will result in an immediate ban-- by posting an image promoting discrimination you are presenting it as your own thought, and will also be open to moderation. Furthermore, swearing is limited solely to our game-day open threads, where the environment is conducive to higher emotion and heightened anxiety. This is due to a large variation in the ages of our users, as well as personal preferences.

Ultimately, the anonymity of the internet is not an excuse to treat someone poorly. If all users adhere to a golden rule of treating others as they would like to be treated then this ToS is largely negated. We are trying to provide the best possible user experience for the greatest number of people, and any attempts to derail this mission will be met quickly.
