Panthers GM Search Rumor Mill is Cranking Up

Stay connected for news and updates

Three names have been swirling around and the common thread is they are all young and up and coming GM prospects. One we discussed on CSR radio a few weeks back and the other two come from recently successful franchises.

Hat tip to Gadgetdawg for being the first to post this on CSR via Fanshot.

Here's what the rumor mill is saying about a potential short list of candidates courtesy of Pro Football Talk.

So far, three names have made their way onto the grapevine: former 49ers G.M. Scot McCloughan, Ravens assistant G.M. Eric DeCosta, and Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross.

Ross is one of my leading candidates and a guy we discussed a couple weeks back. The word is DeCosta won't leave Baltimore as many have tried and failed. I can't see the Panthers job being such a plum as to lure him away now. Plus the money might be too high for JR.

McCloughan, who is now in Seattle gets some credit for building the 49ers into a contender. So which do you like best of these three?
