A new week, a new brew.
Another week, another game, another beer. Sir Pour is back to tell you what you need to be drinking this week. For Sunday's game it's time for the Panthers to get back on track, and get hopped up.
Bear Republic- Racer 5
This is one of the best IPA's in the country, and I couldn't recommend it more.
The Brewery
According to their website the brewmaster of Bear Republic follows a pretty simple motto:
"Respect life, don't drink and drive, make beer not bombs, real ale is alive"
Based out of Healdsburg, CA a simple, unassuming brew pub is putting out some of the best week in the country. Now they're a perennial winner at the Great American Beer Festival, and always putting out brews that exemplify their respective styles.
The Brew
This is a big time hoppy American IPA. Brewed with four hop varietals (Chinook, cascade, centennial, and Columbus), this one kicks like a mule in the best possible way. You get a big hit of caramel, and then the hop bitterness bites. It's a really stellar brew.
How it relates to the game
I know how we're all feeling-- a kick to the gut, and pure disappointment has lead to a season where we're all just ready for it to end. However, there needs to be urgency towards the end of the season, and there needs to be a place to get the ball rolling to increase some positivism among the fan base.
Sure, it might make more sense for the Panthers to 'Suck for a Star', or whatever other pre-draft axiom we want to use, but emotionally I'm not so sure we can all take it. This is the kind of beer that gives you some get up.
Where to buy
You should be able to find Racer 5 at specialty beer shops in singles, and six packs.
