It's another divisional match up, and you'll need something to drink with the game
Sir Pour is back with another brew suggestion for the week. Today he's going with an out-of-state brewery, but they're about to put down roots in the Carolinas. This one is a little easier to find, and so we can all celebrate (or commiserate) together!
Ranger India Pale Ale- New Belgium Brewery
Most of these tales start the same way: A single person, with a dream, add support from family, and friends-- then incubate for a decade or more. Fort Collins, CO is the home to New Belgium Brewery, and the only wind-powered brewery in the United States.
Last year they announced a new $175 million expansion to Asheville, NC where New Belgium will have its East Coast home.
This is a pure, unadulterated American IPA. In a lot of ways it really epitomizes the style with a pine/citrus overtone, with just a small amount of malt. Obviously it's heavily hopped, but there's more to it than that. Sitting at 6.5% ABV, it's the average for an IPA also. If you enjoy the style, you'll probably enjoy Ranger.
How it relates to the game
Honestly, what's more to say about this game? The Panthers are floundering, looking for respectability, as the organization hurtles towards widespread changes. Enjoy the game for what it is: hopefully seeing some improvement, and hopefully we'll be treated to a fun game. Either way, you'll need a good beer in your hand.
You can find Ranger in a six-pack ($8-9), and pint bottles ($3-4). You can find New Belgium beers in most grocery stores in the Carolinas.
