One coach bites the dust...

Ron Rivera announced in his press conference today that the organization have fired special teams coordinator Brian Murphy following the Panthers loss to the Denver Broncos. He will be replaced by Richard Rodgers, the special teams assistant who arrived in Carolina this off-season.

A noticeably salty Rivera talked about how Rodgers was brought in to help Murphy, and that the former ST coordinator simply couldn't get the job done. When asked about Joe Adams, the Panthers head coach bristled that the rookie would get more opportunities when he could hold onto the ball. Rivera talked about how Adams have been given a clear road map of what he needs to do in order to be activated, and that was catching the ball regularly rather than intermittent catch and drops. When asked further if Adams would be active this week, Rivera quipped that he would be if he could hold onto the ball.
