NationalFootballPost.com has posted the projected Franchise Tag numbers for 2013. These numbers are based upon a projected $121 million Salary Cap, up slightly from a $120.6 Salary Cay in 2012. This is only an across the board increase of 1.8%, and under the old formula (in the old CBA) it would have been a 26.1% across the board increase (read the whole article to see how the numbers are arrived at).
www.nationalfootballpost.com/An-early-look-at-2013-franchise-tag-numbers.htmlPreliminary 2013 Franchise Tag Numbers:
CB - $10,622,000
DE -- 10,829,000
DT - - 8,016,000
LB - - 9,049,000
OL - - 9,278,000
P/K -- 2,743,000
QB -- 14,536,000
RB - - 7,968,000
S -- - 6,478,000
TE - - 5,555,000
WR - - 9,692,000
This will probably have no effect on the Panthers (after signing J-Stew), other than perhaps lowering the top end salaries, and the Panthers don't have the salary cap room to go after any of those.
