With the hope of bolstering their defense, the Panthers have activated DT Andre Neblett and added him to the 53 man roster according to the team's official Twitter account. In a corresponding move, recently signed CB Ron Parker has been waived*.
* - According to Joe Person, Ron Parker was activated from the Practice Squad to replace Chris Gamble against Seattle.
Neblett was suspended for the first four games of the season due to a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. It is unknown exactly what illegal substance was found in Neblett's system to trigger the failed test, but he claims it was a dietary supplement. Considering the Panthers brought him back onto the team after his suspension was over, the substance he ingested must not have been too serious, as Rivera has been quick to dismiss players who have been caught with illegal substances in the past (e.g. - LB Lawrence Wilson).
It's unknown at this point how much playing time Neblett will receive after rejoining the team, but I would imagine that he would be activated on Sundays since there are only 5 DT's on the roster and he's one of the better rotational options available at the position for Rivera and Defensive Coordinator Sean McDermott.
