Jeremy Brevard-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire
I am a little speechless as I try to find clean words to describe how the Panther offense played today. The defense did its job, holding the Seahawks to 16 points. The offense on the other hand was atrocious. QB Cam Newton had in my view the worse game of his career.
Look at this passing stat line by Cam Newton:
12 for 29 for 141 yards, no TDs, no INTs
Newton has no touch on the short pass and kept trying to flick the long passes. With the chance to pull a victory out when it was not deserved Newton engineered the best drive of the day only to throw his worse pass on 4th and goal. How he completed 12 passes all day I'm not sure.
The defense gave up some yards but they created turnovers getting 2 INTs, including a pick 6 by Captain Munnerlyn and a forced fumble. Luke Kuechly played well at middle LB which will certainly create some controversy during the bye week. In the end the defense and even special teams played well enough to win.
I'm sure plenty will be said of the offensive performance. I'm still not sure how much blame to place on OC Rob Chudzinski. It would seem the thing that we initially loved about Chud is now the thing we hate the most. He is so creative and diverse in his game plan that the offense has not identity. So does he even ask Newton if he likes the play call? Does Cam have confidence in the game plan? He sure didn't look it.
I'm going to stop now before I go to a dark place and open it up for comment...
