Carolina Panthers vs. Seattle Seahawks: Sherrod Martin will not start

Speaking to the media today, FS Sherrod Martin said he will not be starting on Sunday, and did not get additional reps in practice today.

After Haruki Nakamura struggled against the Atlanta Falcons it was presumed he would be benched, especially following Ron Rivera's press conference in which he said Sherrod Martin, along with others would get a look at the FS spot. Today, however, that doesn't seem to be the case with Martin telling reporters that he's not starting, and that there has been no adjustment in reps, this from Bill Voth.

During the off-season Carolina brought in a plethora of safeties, and gave numerous players opportunities to win the job. Ultimately they went with Nakamua due to his leadership qualities, and awareness– both of which he's shown this season. However, where Haruki has struggled is in making the right decisions on Sunday. On two occasions he elected to back into Roddy White, rather than make a solid play on the ball, and on both occasions he was burned for it.

Today was the first practice of the week, and it remains to be seen whether Colin Jones or D.J. Campbell will get a look, but as it stands there appears to be no move to make a change at FS this week against the Seattle Seahawks.
