The hits just keep coming...

This afternoon Ron Rivera announced that starting CB Chris Gamble will be placed on injured reserve, struggling with a shoulder injury he sustained earlier in the season.

The Carolina Panthers are now left in a lurch where Captain Munnerlyn and Josh Norman are your starting cornerbacks for the time being. Rivera stated that changes were 'coming' regarding the team a a whole, but stopped short of outlining how any of these changes would take shape.

Often maligned, Chris Gamble is far and away the Panthers best cornerback. With the exception of 2010 (when he quit on lame-duck coach John Fox), Gamble is consistently rated as one of the best corners in the league with a low target percentage, paired with a low average yards allowed.

There is no announcement on who the Panthers would bring in, though they currently have a woefully lacking secondary, and numerous games to close out 2012 featuring good quarterbacks and excellent receivers. The hits keep on coming, and now this year can't end soon enough.
