Brandon Beane to oversee operations for Carolina Panthers

Stay connected for news and updates

The organization is stopping short from naming him interim GM, as the Panthers move towards their second rebuild in three years.

Director of football operations Brandon Beane will oversee the Carolina Panthers for the remainder of the 2012 season, but the organization is stopping short from giving him an 'interim GM' designation.

Make no mistake, this is a part-time job only to get the team to the end of the season. Beane, along with the remaining scouts and coaches should all last until 2013, barring another rash of surprise moves. Brought in under Marty Hurney, it's fairly safe to say any ties to the former general manager will be severed with a new hire.

It's understandable that fans want answers, names, and people to research so they can begin to get excited by 2013-- but this would all be rampant speculation. This afternoon on CSR I'll have a piece on some of the key people who would work in Carolina, but this rarely (if ever) is in sync with who the organization are looking at. Ron Rivera, for example, was a footnote in most of our pieces on the new head coach leading up to his hiring-- often it's the path less traveled.
