Carolina Panthers vs. Seattle Seahawks preview

Finally, the offseason has come and gone and the draft an afterthought as we kick off Week 1 of the 2013 Regular Season. Its the most wonderful time of the year for NFL fans, as every team starts off 0-0, everyone fantasizing about the glory of playoff berth. For some teams, a reality. For many, it remains just that, a fantasy. A big part of turning fantasy into reality is starting strong, something the Carolina Panthers haven't done in a long time, and this year seems no different as the Panthers open against the Super Bowl favorite Seattle Seahawks in Charlotte. Let's take a look at how that game might play out.

Monday morning optimist

The time for excuses is over, and the time to step up is at hand.

Can Carolina survive without Beason and Gamble?

Here is the list of inactive players for both the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks. There are two very important names on the list for Carolina, as both Chris Gamble and Jon Beason will not play today. Another inactive player of note is WR/PR Joe Adams, who is apparently still in the dog house after his two fumble performance two weeks ago against New York.

Sunday's Inactives:

LB Jon Beason

CB Chris Gamble

OG Geoff Hangartner

QB Jimmy Clausen

WR Joe Adams

DE Thomas Keiser

S DJ Campbell

OG John Moffitt

WR Charly Martin

S Winston Guy

CB Danny Gorrer

CB Jeremy Lane

DT Jaye Howard

DT Greg Scruggs

Hopefully the Panthers don't miss the services of Beason and Gamble too much, but the defense is going to depend on two rookies to step up into major roles as LB Luke Kuechly and CB Josh Norman will both be called upon to replace the two injured Panthers stars.

What beer should you drink this weekend?

The Panther with a problem is back to tell you what you should be drinking during tomorrow's game.

Panthers vs. Seahawks: Who will win the ST battle?

When the Panthers and Seahawks face off this Sunday, one of the most important in-game battles will be the fight for field position. They don't call them special teams for nothing, and this aspect of the game could be the determining factor in which squad walks away victorious when the clock hits zero.

Can the Panthers defense stop Marshawn Lynch?

Last week they were the reason the Panthers lost, but can they step up against an offense that's considerably more muted?

Will the Panthers offense be enough?

After a pretty tough opening 1st quarter of the season it doesn't get a whole lot easier in week 5 as the 2-2 Seahawks come to Carolina. The Seahawks boast the #3 scoring defense including one of the better front lines in the NFL led by DE Chris Clemmons. Here's a look at how these units match-up and what might be the keys to a Panthers victory.

Chris Gamble injured, likely out

Panthers CB Chris Gamble is likely to miss Sunday's tilt against the Seahawks. Captain Munnerlyn would start in his place if Gamble is unable to suit up.

Week 5 Injury Report

The Panthers Got DE Antwan Applewhite back to practice but still had some key players missing.

Sherrod Martin will not start

Speaking to the media today, FS Sherrod Martin said he will not be starting on Sunday, and did not get additional reps in practice today.

Is a QB controversy brewing in Seattle?

Russell Wilson was a preseason media darling, but three games in some are calling for Matt Flynn to take the reins.

Taking stock of the Seattle Seahawks

It's Tuesday, so we're shrugging off Sunday's loss and looking ahead to this Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks. What is happening in Seattle's season?
