It was announced in February that Cam Newton was in Bristol, CT to shoot a 'This is Sportscenter' commercial for ESPN. The iconic ads are staple of the network, and a rare opportunity to see the Panthers QB show a lighter side to his personality.

I particularly like all the awards and accolades on Newton's desk. Cam has pretty good comedic timing. Perhaps it was a good director, but I was impressed with how Newton delivered his lines.

This is the second time a member of the Carolina Panthers has been featured in the commercials. In 2009 wide receiver Steve Smith shot his commercial with Kenny Mayne.

Interesting that on both occasions they elected to use the Panthers alternate blue uniforms for the ads. C'mon Panthers! The fans like them, the national media like them, the players like them, why not go ahead and make them a more permanent staple already!?
