I was browsing on Facebook about an hour ago and noticed Nike Football is using the events leading to the Pro Bowl as a means of testing out their products. We all know that Nike will become the official outfitter of the NFL, going into the 2012 season and has a lot of interesting things in the works. I noticed our logo is definitely modified and I wonder what other changes are in the works. I personally love the new logo and I want to know what you all think.

yeah im not felling the blue lip
kinda makes it look soft and cartoony i like are logo as is for its masculine, sharp lines. Overall tho it looks cool kinda 3d ish but the lip ummm i guess. The gloves will look sick in the end i believe.

Lip is a little weird

It’s not much different than that logo, but ours has a more squared jaw. If simply changed that one aspect, I think it’d look great.

about our current logo is the eyes.
Oh and also...
As per NFL regulations, teams must apply to the league for a change of color scheme and logo. This new updated logo wouldn’t be allowed unless the team itself chose to go with it, along with approval from the league.
So for now… it’s just a fantasy.

Found pics of the gloves for every team here, and the Panthers are the only team that has a different logo. Maybe this does mean something.
I know we got to have one of the best color schemes in the NFL. Looking at them pictures and the Panthers Gloves really pop out with the Electric Blue. Vick said before signing with the Eagles he wanted to play here because he liked our Jerseys haha. That and he could stick it to the Falcons twice a year

The more I look at it
I realize that its not a lip. The blue is only used for highlights to the black(like with spiderman’s original black). Its just highlighting the jawline, which to me adds to it. When I look at the one w/o the jaw line, it feels like its missing something. This might be why the designers added the highlight.
I think they had the right idea.
The line just looked a little too weighty to me at first glance, but it’s growing on me.

There are two ways I think this could work better. 1) connect the blue of the jawline to the blue going down the cheek just so its not floating, see how they run together. 2) still have a little bit of the jawline going up the mouth but only on the left side to define where the mouth is. Keep it empty on the right side(the panther’s right) like our current logo.

If you really want a project
Go in and add a little bit of a chin and maybe raise the cheek to the previous logo’s hight.
In fact, we should crowdsource what we think the loge should look like.

It doesn’t need a lip at all to accent the jaw. The white teeth , blue cheek, and blue triangle on the front of the neck does the job just fine.

I’ve got posters all the way back to season 1 and it has never incorporated the silver trim.
The uniform design won't stray too far from our current set.

He did say the “uniforms” would look a lot like(but not “exactly”) the older uniforms but didn’t specify that the logo would also. The logo can change w/o changing anything at all on the rest of the uniform. /conjecture

The new logo is legit, as the team would’ve had to have submitted it to the NFL for approval before it could be used on official equipment.
I think he was speaking strictly about the design of the uni, so I don’t think we’ll get the full “Nike treatment” this year, but I wouldn’t rule out minor tweaks to it or anything. We’ll find out in April.
I hope not. I really like our jerseys the way they are. Though it would be nice to have a “throwback” when it seems everyone else has one.

I’ve been wondering that too. From what I’ve seen it looks like the Carolina players will use the current logo on their helmets for the Pro Bowl. Really, the only Panthers player who would wear the gloves is Smitty, and isn’t he a Reebok guy? So we might not even see them in-game, which makes the leak that much more embarrassing for Nike.
And as far as next regular season goes, I would expect the new logo to be on the helmets.

If they are, chances are they have faded or warped over the years.
there has been a notable attempt in the last few years to give the blue a little bit more “pop” but the jerseys they players wear are noticeably less bright.
Two are official
I have two of them at home, I can snap a photo of the blues, the other is back in NC(my old Collins Jersey). The collins jersey matches the first blue, my smith jersey matches the second blue, the Newton Jersey matches neither.
Don't like.
The blue lip/jaw outline is awkward, and the slightly squinting left eye makes the cat look like it is either confused, constipated, or wincing in pain.
I can grow to deal with the blue jaw, but that left eye thing is going to bug the hell outta me.
Meh…maybe I won’t even notice in a few years.

Looks less legit than the known fake above. I wouldn’t read too much into this. Uniforms will definitely change a lot for 2012 season but I think it will be a function / material change more than a drastic appearance change.
The only thing about those that I would change
is the whiskers on the logo, but Ive always thought that the white whisker face would go really well on a black helmet as well.

I can’t help but think it reminds me of when the Falcons had those different uniform patterns a few years back. Now it looks like an NFL version of the Ducks without the ten different helmet designs.
When I looked at the link, I couldn’t help thinking we might be looking at just blue and white jerseys, dropping the black one completely. That, or we do what the Falcons do and wear the black jersey as “throwback”. Something else from thst link which caught my eye; while it is never fully revealed, it seems the helmet may be white.

I actually quite like the new logo now. It’s grown on me. I think the thick highlight on the chin helps retain the shape & definition of the lower jaw when you view it at a distance.

i think it was designed to stand out on a darker background and not blend in. I think we will all grow to love it…its been since 95…change is hard to swallow at first.

a note about the blue jaw highlight
if you put it on a black helmet w/o that highlight, you completely lose the lower part of the jaw/neck area, which may lend credence to it being put on black.
On the black background it looks normal.
But it looks like shit on the white and silver ones, because it looks like a fat lip.

New logo on black looks really badass.
One question, though: For a team that usually only wears black in the Fall due to heat, will they go all black domes? Unless that blue is Navi skin that Nike scored from the set of Avatar. But I hope they do all black.
The only 'change' I'd like to see is an addition.
Let’s just see what black pants with a blue stripe look like. They could be worn with either the black or blue tops.
