Newton: Being a Back-up to Brees and Rodgers a 'Blessing'.

For a guy that has plenty of reason to feel like he belongs at the NFL Pro Bowl ,Panthers rookie QB Cam Newton instead keeps it humble:

Cam is actually the third string quarterback on the NFC squad, but you won’t hear any complaints from Cam: "I’m watching and learning. What better way to learn than firsthand? I don’t really don’t mind, especially to these two MVP candidates. I’ll be second string to that, man," he said.

So he drinks water at a rap party and now gives appropriate props to the veteran Pro Bowlers. Newton is human and will make a mistake off the field at some point, at least a minor one. It might take a few years though because I really think this kid is genuine. This is not some persona he puts on for the field and the camera. At least that what it apeears like to me...but then again I have been accused on not having a grip on reality...;)

Oh, and I can't forget that Newton never fails to tow the company rope:

"The Carolina Panthers, coach Rivera, Marty Hurney and Jerry Richardson, they have everybody’s interest at heart and they’re going to do what’s the best for this team," Newton said. "That’s something I do know and I can attest to. This team, this organization is going in the right direction to be an elite playoff team and contender year in and year out."

Okay now that sounds scripted but it's still sweet music to my ears....

You said it..
Never been a better time to be a Carolina Panthers fan

I’ll repeat it. Never been a better time to be a Carolina Panthers fan.

"Now I feel like I’m ready to come out of my shell. I know I have the talent to change this game, and I don’t see no ceiling. So I’m not knocking on the door, like tap-tap-tap. I’m gonna kick that door in, like SWAT." - Cam Newton.

I would be rooting for the guy no matter what, because he is our guy, but

sure makes it better knowing I am rooting for a guy I like and would want my son to look up to. i am proud of our QB. His father needs to get more credit and the NFL fan base needs to get beyond the money to play BS and recognize his family has raised a good man.

I like collard greens.

Coming from Cam

I feel his attitude and mentality about the team has taken a 180 change from the interview about “being a lion and all”. After almost a year on the team, I belive he is more confident in the Panthers than he was when he was drafted. We can all relax, because we have the potential to be a team like the Patriots and to a lesser extent, the Colts (mainly due to their 2-14 record this past year). Both clubs have been winning for a long time now and I believe its our time now.

How awesome would it be if Newton was able to score 1 passing 1 rushing and 1 receiving TD at the pro-bowl and how many new Panthers fans would there be if he did?

He caught a 50 yard pass from Rodgers and Greg Jennings said Did you see that?" "He looks really fluid and natural. It’s kind of scary." Cam could be a Star at MANY positions. Freak Athlete Freak football player

You know what I think the guy's biggest strength is?

Its that he hasn’t grown up. His youth and excitement towards life and the game shows in his excellent smile and rubs off on those around him, in some cases probably making older players feel like they’re 20 again. Its one of the things Jake had for a while but eventually lost. When the guys are having fun, they play better. When its a job and you just go to work to do your job every day, you’re a cold hearted bastard like Belichick. Don’t be Belichick.

Weekly Pats jab done, tune in next week for part 1005 :)

Agreed

At this point Cam is just playing football, but don’t think he doesn’t know that there are few who play it better than he. He fully expects to be one of the game’s greatest. That is his stated goal and won’t bet against him.

I remember hearing Cam say...

During our last game against the Saints that he was going to watch Brees and learn as much as he can. This will give our young yet ridiculously talented QB a chance to pick the brains of two of the top QBs in the league.

Most years I couldn’t care less about the Pro Bowl, this year I am watching for sure!

For once

I am actually excited about the pro bowl. I think Cam may just be bringing home the MVP trophy!

Yes

There will be plenty watching, some for the first time, to get a glimpse of our very own phenom. This year’s Pro Bowl will the most watched in a long time, I predict.

He is the real deal, and in the best way possible.

If he were going to be the kind of guy who let the spotlight turn him into a diva, we’d have seen it by now.

No bling, no entourage, no tats, no wild parties (not even adult beverages!), no flaunting of his success of any kind that I’ve heard about. If it weren’t for the joyous EZ celebrations, the chest bumps with every teammate who scores, the balls gleefully run over to kids in the stands, you’d think he were a very scary robot.

No wonder Greg Jennings is awed – and I’ll bet he’s not the only Pro Bowler there who’s watching everything Cam does. Those vets have seen a lot of flashed talent come and go, and they know he’s the new paradigm. I just hope his humility isn’t naivete, and that he chooses his future friends well, cause no doubt there will soon appear a bevy of hangers on and bimbos, to tempt his celebrity.

Very impressed with the props he’s giving Rodgers and Brees. Smart beyond his years.

newton is going to tip the scales

when it comes to free agents… People know what he can do and if probowlers are impressed a potential free agent mayn want to come just because of cam.
