My Own Mock Offseason
We took some big steps last year to getting to the top. Time to continue the trend of being aggressive and getting the right players in here to get to the championship. Our offense is so explosive that we need a quality defense that can keep us in games against the packers/Saint of the nfl.
Cut:
Thomas Davis, OLB: This is the third season with the ACL tear. I wish the best for this guy but it’s another Dan Morgan situation. Cut him, but re-sign him to veteran minimum contract.
Jeff Otah, OT – Very frustrating because he is always injured. When he’s in, he is a monster. Re-sign him to a cap friendly contract.
Olindo Mare, K: No explanation necessary.
Armanti Edwards, WR: Time for this project to come to an end. Didn’t have a single reception this past season. I had high hopes for this guy but he hasn’t shown anything. Another waste of a second rounder..
Ron Edwards, DT: Because of the interior lineman we will be bringing in, this guy will be a cap casualty.
Our Free Agents:
Derek Anderson, QB: Good Backup that has shown that he can fit in well in Chud’s offense in the past.
Goeff Schwartz, OG – Solid starter at the RG position. Hopefully he stays healthy in the future.
Jordan Senn, OLB – Had a solid season in a starting position.
Gary Barnidge, TE – Has a lot of potential. Can make up for the loss of Shockey.
Free Agent Signing:
Eddie Royal, WR: He was so productive a couple years ago. Production has dropped a lot, but look at who his quarterbacks are. He will fit in nicely in the shot position.
Terrell Thomas, CB – Talented player that is coming of an ACL tear. Was going to get a big pay day before getting hurt. He will have great value if healthy.
LaRon Landry, S – Very Athletic safety that will be a big upgrade over Sherrod Martin the in the secondary.
John Kasay, K – Worst move last season was letting this guy for Mare. If he doesn’t retire, needs to be in a Panthers Uniform.
Sammie Lee Hill, DT – Giant(329lbs) tackle that can run stop. Lions had so much talent at the DT position that he didn’t get enough playing time. Will be a steal if we pick him up.
Trades:
Jimmy Clausen, QB to Cowboys for 6th round pick – Fans are not happy with Romo and I think the organization is looking to go in a different direction at QB. I think they will be intrigued by Clausen and willing to give up a late round pick for him.
8/9th overall pick and 3rd rounder to the Bengals for their 17th and 21st overall pick – Bengals will want to draft Richardson and willing to give up a lot to get him.
Draft:
1st Round(17th) – DT Michael Brockers, LSU – We need some better talent in the middle of our D-line and this guy will fill in perfectly. He has good size and strength. Some say he would be a Ndomokong Suh type talent if he were to enter next year. He is only 21 so there is lots of time to grow.
1st round(21st) – WR Alshon Jeffrey, USC – Some think that he will be taken by the 21st pick but I think he will be available since his production was so low this past season. I don’t see him being taken ahead of Blackmon or Floyd. He has great size and skills, will play great opposite Smitty.
2nd round – DE Jared Crick, UN – Versatile Pass rusher that can play anywhere on the line. Will be a huge asset if we switch to the 3-4 in the future.
3rd round – traded to Cincy
4th round – OLB Terrell Manning, NCSU – Fast LB that can be insurance if TD can stay healthy.
5th round –CB Cliff Harris, UO – Very troubled corner but has so much skill as a ballhawker and a returner. Rivera will get him under control and make him pay all his speeding tickets.
6th round – QB Russell Wilson, UWisc – Small in size but has a ton of skill. His passing ability and mobility will make him a good backup to Cam.
6th round(via Dallas) - DE Donte Paige-Moss, UNC – One thing we learn from the Giants is that you cannot have enough pass rushers. If this guy can control his temper, he can be a great player.
7th round – RB Jeff Demps, UF – fastest player in the draft that will be a good change up to double trouble. He is a Darren Sproles type player.
Offense:
QB: Cam Newton, Derick Anderson, Russell Wilson(R)
HB: DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, Jeff Demps (R), Mike Goodson
WR: Steve Smith, Alshon Jeffrey(R), Eddie Royal, David Gettis, Brandon LaFell, Kealoha Pilarez
TE: Greg Olsen, Gary Barnidge, Ben Harstock
LT: Jordan Gross, Lee Ziemba
LG: Travelle Wharton, Byron Bell, Geoff Hangartner
C: Ryan Kalil, Geoff Hangartner
RG: Geoff Schwartz, Byron Bell, Geoff Hangartner
RT: Jeff Otah, Bryon Bell
Defense:
DE: Charles Johnson, Donte Paige-Moss, Thomas Keiser
DT: Michael Brockers(R), Terrell McClain, Jared Crick (R), Andre Neblett
NT: Sammie Lee Hill. Sione Fua
DE: Jared Crick (R), Greg Hardy, Eric Norwood
OLB: Thomas Davis, Terrell Manning, Jordan Senn
MLB: Jon Beason, London Fletcher, Thomas Williams
OLB: James Anderson, Terrell Manning, Jason Williams
CB: Chris Gamble, Brandon Hogan, Darius Butler
CB: Terrell Thomas, Captain Munnerlyn, Cliff Harris(R)
FS: LaRon Landry, Sherrod Martin
SS: Charles Godfrey, Jordan Pugh
ST:
K: John Kasay,
P: Jason Baker
KR: Cliff Harris (R), Kealoha Pilarez
PR: Cliff Harris (R), Jeff Demps (R),

We don't have a 3rd round pick anymore. His name is Greg Olsen.
Also, we will cut TD and re-sign him to a more team-friendly deal, it’s only a matter of time. Also, cutting Otah makes no sense…he is only due $1M this season…it’s not going to get any cheaper than that for a quality OL.

I may not always be right, but even a blind nut finds a squirrel every once in a while.
No third round this year,
Cincy might just take next year’s #3. They have a bunch of picks to play with this year thanks to Oakland!
Don't bank on a Kasay resigning either
He was released for a younger (lol) kicker to come in and handle kick offs. I still feel that Mare will be on the roster this upcoming season and hope Carolina goes out and drafts/signs a young kicker who can cover the need for a kicker for the next two decades.

i dont see us...
Drafting Alshon if we sign Royal, to many WRs on that depth chart. After this season you can’t honestly tell me you think LaFell should be our 5th WR.

If we cut Edwards and don't resign Legatron, adding two new WR's would bring us to 6 WR's.
In this scenario Lafell would probably be the 3rd WR. Smitty, Gettis, Lafell, Royal, Jeffery, and Pilares.

And then our first round pick is our #5
That’s not a very desirable outcome in my opinion. We either sign a WR or draft one. Maybe neither, but probably not both.
True, I'm not saying it's the way to go, but nigh is it unfathomable.
Who knows what Royal has left in the tank. He might just be a PR/KR guy.

We will not cut mare
We own Mare too much money. TDs contract was set up just for the chance he got hurt again. his contract will be restructured. Jimmy has absolutely no trade value! Will not waste a draft pick on a qb this draft. Cam needs veteran back up that’s brings experience to the table. Likely sign anderson to one year deal our something. Brokers won’t be available @ 17th pick nor will Jefferies @ 21st.
I do agree that you can never have enough pass rushers though!
In Cam I trust! In BAMF & Big Cat we believe!

Jimmy Clausen's trade value could increase.
The Cats have to play him in the preseason and make him look improved.
Seattle, Dallas, Miami (among others) are all in the market for young, undeveloped talent behind center. A couple of good preseason quarters and he could be worth a #3 pick next year.
Donte Paige- Moss wont be around in the 7th round Jared Crick could go late first as well
Its CAMMY CAM TIME!!!!!
I wouldnt be suprissed if he went undrafted
Benched last year Kareem Martin (sophomore) took his spot
And also he has a terrible attitude
“Worst xmas eva cant wait till.this horrible bowl in this horrible city wit sum of da mos horrible coaches r ova
Sum.of.yall mofos jus haten cuz yall.gotta pay.fo.skool
unc. Fans r.the.worse.we.win its all.good. Have a bad game we suck thats.a.reason #imout #nosupport”
That’s a quote from him (his typing) after he declared for the draft

Player rise and drop in the draft every year,
nothing is guarantee in the NFl draft. This mock draft is wishful thinking in my eyes, doubt the bengals give up both 1st rounds when they need help at guard and the secondary. Chris Polk can be had in the 2nd round. The redskins can give Laron L the franchise tag( only $6.2 million if the decided to go that route). Need more taller wr when in the red zone, Eddie royle is injury prone. Gary B signed a 1-2 year deal, Clausen has no trade value. John Kasay was cut because he couldn’t kick off, took up 2 roster spots.
I think that was just positional hubris.

But I like the idea
We need our own Sproles. Two players come to mind in this draft, LaMicheal James and Chris Rainey
I like the idea of getting an elite return man.
Someone who’s explosive. I love LaMichael’s game, but I don’t think we’ll have a chance to pick him, not having a 3rd rounder. He would be an excellent 3rd down back to spell (or put in at the same time as) J Stew.
I like to think of myself as a one-man wolfpack.
And...
Why cut him at all? Hes in the last year of his rookie contract. We don’t owe him a lot of money.

TDs contract will be restructured
we have to much guaranteed money tied up in Mare to cut him. Edwards was only in his 2nd year of a new position, with a new coaching staff, and no offseason, plus he’s not making much money anyway. Otah is great when healthy and he isnt making a lot of money now anyway. Edwards is the only player with over 2 years of experience. we need a veteran presence. we can only even think about cutting him if we sign someone else first.
Harris wont be available that late. Demps isnt going to the NFL. DPM is a cancer. we dont have a 3rd.
I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was
Signing this many FA's is a little out of reach considering our cap situation.
