Coin Flip to Determine Whether Panthers Pick 8th or 9th
So we still don't know when exactly the Panthers will pick in the 2012 draft. With a little Luck we could pick 8th or at worst 9th. At either spot we are certain to get a shot at a good player and that I leave in Marty Hurney's capable hands. So who should flip the coin for the Panthers? Hurney? JR? Cam?
Here's the top 20 draft order with strength of schedule calculations, after the jump to save FP space

Thanks for posting this Jaxon.
Yesterday I put up a FanShot saying the Panthers would select at the 8th pick. Carolina and Miami were tied in Win-Loss and Strength-of-Schedule so I went to a source for the NFL Draft tie-breakers.
After Win-Loss and Strength-of-Schedule the tiebreakers were listed as Division Records and then Conference Records. This led me to believe that the Panthers would select before the Dolphins. I later saw a reference to the tie requiring a coin toss. I went to the NFL site and the Division Record and Conference Record tie-breaks are only applicable when the teams are in the same Division or Conference.
Sorry for the misinformation in my FanSpot and hope I will be forgiven.

why is it called a buscuit?
It looks like a chicken burger. Also thanks to the slightly ridiculous ‘man vs food’ I now understand what a kaiser roll is. Not so sure about a kaiser blade.

It sure don’t look like a chocolate bourbon anyway. I’m confused, do you guys call a bread bin a biscuit?

hmm
As I recall biscuit means something different in England…. more like what we’d call a cookie or a scone.
A Bojangles biscuit is a fluffy, flakey, buttery piece of delicious. Cut that bad boy in half, slap a cajun-breaded breast filet in there and you’ve got yourself a breakfast.
I think Claiborne will be gone by 8 or 9..................
so right now I like Dre Kirkpatrick as the pick. No doubt we need Defense players bad. I like Taamu at DT in the 2nd.
I'd be happy with Kirkpatrick
He could possibly be moved to safety. He would probably be an upgrade over Martin. Has Kirkpatrick ever handled punt returns? It would be awesome to find a DB / Punt Returner all-in-one.
Either way, I’m pretty confident that Hurney will land a good player at #8 or #9.

Do what is needed to get matt kalil
by Josh Isitt on Jan 2, 2012 11:03 AM EST via Android app reply actions
What do you, (or anyone else) think we would have to give up to move up and get Kalil?
I wouldn’t be opposed to trading up to get him. He is probably the only 1 I would trade up for. I wouldn’t give away any of next year’s picks though, unless it is like a third round..
STICK THE KNIFE IN AND TURN IT!!!!!
then we wont get him
Kalil would cost us our 1st and 2nd this year and next year as well in my opinion. Maybe a bit less next year but certainly two firsts

I don't want to trade up for anyone
That pretty much handcuffs us for the rest of this draft and would likely hinder us next year. We aren’t good enough to give away a big chunk of our draft for one player.

Coin toss could be huge for PantherTrain
The drop off in talent from the 8th to the 9th spot is tremendous, I mean huge.
Just the ramifications of 2 months of wondering which spot we get, and the inevitable…
“If we pick 8th we should take _______ and if we pick 9th we should take ______ " is huge in and of itself.
I feel for our loyal PantherTrain, and hope his head doesn’t explode by February 22.
Should be an interesting ride here on CSR until April 26th.
And PantherTrain, if you post more than 30 articles on who we should take between now and April 26th, I swear to all that is Holy,
I CRUSH YOUR HEAD

Lol I must admit that’s kind of funny.. I’m not worried about the Fins picking ahead of us, since we need defense badly and with the Fins already having a solid defense I don’t see them picking defense. So I’m fine with the 8th or 9th pick. I think our picks in the first 2 rounds needs to be CB and OLB, 4th round we should take safety and 5th round a olineman.
Any solid mid price CB or LBs that will be free agents this year we could possibly sign?
by PantherTrain on Jan 2, 2012 12:13 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
im liking brown as our pick more and more
I know anderson has proved his worth this year but our depth at lb and cb has been decimated this year by injuries. I like cb or lb with the first pick… Bolster what we can in FA

of course not
I know next to nothing about college football. In fact I no nothing about college ball at all. I’ve just seen highlights but it works for ptrain so why not for me? to be fair I’ve seen some bad plays as well, he seems to over-commit a lot, is this a fair assessment? But to compensate he is just a beast. Who should I support in college football?? Any advice panther fans?

If you've watched the S. Car/Nebraska game I think your love for Jeffrey will return.
"Nah, you look like Elijah Wood." - danmerqury
Yeah...the dude was having a mammoth game against Nebraska until he got ejected (which was total bullshit).

I actually completely agree with your draft priorities
That being said, we shouldn’t reach if need is not anywhere near BPA, but if the positions you mentioned are available for good value, I hope we jump on it.
Lol!
ACC Championship Member Brandon Thompson is the new Jacoby Ford. You better pick him Panthers or you will be doomed to relive the 2010 season over and over again in the Twilight Zone.
Clemson 2011 ACC Champions! Look forward to doing it again next year! :D

I hate something like this has to come down to a coin flip
But we’ll get an outstanding player either way.

get more picks, after the top 5 picks, I don’t see anyone outstanding.

We aren't in a position to trade back. And there will be tons of good players available at 8/9.

I can see the Dolphins trying to trade up regardless where they pick
That is assuming they want a QB. Two of note are RGIII and Landry Jones. But its too early to say

Watching the USC/Nebraska game
I don’t want to draft him but Jeffrey is looking good also CB Stephen Gillmore is playing great he’ll probably be available in the 2nd round of we don’t take one in the 1st

He has a pick and a missed tackle.
Can he play safety?
"Nah, you look like Elijah Wood." - danmerqury
Just got home and started watching
And he had a TFL and a INT….
by rscott94 on Jan 2, 2012 2:31 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
He missed another TFL as well - went for the 'shoulder to the thigh' hit rather than wrapping up on a reverse.
Pet peeve – defensive players that can’t tackle.

and has had some great tackles man

Dennard isn't very good.
Not taking anything away from Jeffrey though – he’s had a hell of a football game, but the dude lining up across from him is a NB in waiting.
"Nah, you look like Elijah Wood." - danmerqury
he is the #25 rated player of draft eligible players haha
He has shut down ppl all year I have heard

Those ratings will change.
Go watch him play – bearing in mind I’m a guy that LOVES CBs that are under 6’.
Dennard doesn’t play bigger than his listed height – and I’d say he’s 5’8". He’s stocky, stiff and mediocre in run support. He’s basically Cpt Munnerlyn. Once he gets to the NFL and he’s not allowed to maul WRs on routes he’ll be f’ed.

Oldham
Our players go for the big hit often (they are taught that way).. that is why it may appear he cannot tackle when he can

I want Lavonte David in the second if possible. Dude is a tackling machine! If we got a CB in the first and David in the second, that would be a huge upgrade.
