Daily Practice Updates From The East-West Shrine Bowl Game

Walterfootball.com is posting updates each day from the East-West Shrine Bowl (The Battle of Florida) this week.

The top story for Panthers fans today is that the Panthers seemed "really impressed" with Tennessee Tech's WR Tim Benford (5-11, 193), who showed great hands, and speed. In addition to the Panthers, Benford also talked with the Bucs, Texans, and 49ers. NFLDraftScout.com currently ranks Benford as the drafts #560 player, and projects a 4.52-40, but a good week could shoot him up draft boards.

Some players measured smaller than expected:

  • OT Markus Zusevics (6-5, 296), and only 33 inch arms.
  • WR Jarius Wright (5-9, 176), now only the same size as Houston's Patrick Edwards.
  • DE/OLB Julian Miller (6-3, 256), it's hard to believe West Virginia played him at DT, his size makes him a OLB.
  • TE Evan Rodriguez (6-1 1/2, 242), his weight and height probably makes him a H-Back/FB

One player weighed much more than expected, and that's a good thing:

  • G/T Ryan Miller (6-6, 326), he was only listed at 298 pounds, and 6-7 or 6-8 at Colorado.

Those are some of today's update highlights, so you might want to follow the updates each day, before watching the game on Saturday.
