The Chargers have been a very successful team for the past decade. I'd take that.

Inheriting a unit that ranked second to last in pass defense (31st), Wilks helped the unit move up 20 spots to No. 11 against the pass in 2009 before ranking No. 1 overall this past season. The Chargers allowed 18 touchdown passes, fifth-lowest in the league, and opposing passers had an average rating of 76.2, the fourth-lowest in the NFL.

Its pretty neat that he's from Charlotte too.

With his history
Does his hire and his history of greatly improving a pass defense make one think we lean more toward the CB pick of say Dre in the first more or less likely?
CAN'T WAIT!
The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far is as needed? - El Duche
Good question. I think it depends on Wilk's evaluation of our CB's.
If he thinks we have none/very little talent in the Secondary, I think that BAMF and Hurney would take that under advisement, come April.

I can't imagine we pass on Kirkpatrick
I know everyone sorta jumped and said “OMG, DT possibilities!” when Brockers declared, but I really don’t think that changes Rivera’s stance of saying at the end of the year that DT is not necessarily a need at this point.
Agreed.
Unless there are complications with BPA, or one of the premier pass rushers excites Hivera, I think the Front office chooses Dre.
