Claiborne, Brockers to hold 4PM press conference.
If they're holding it together then they're both declaring. Things just got more interesting.

Still is going to have some competition for that #1 DT spot. Brockers is no joke

Personally I'd rather have Brockers than Still.

So would I. He is the better prospect.

It's hard finding any scouting reports on Brockers
I guess because he’s a redshirt Soph most scouts figured he would stay in school another year but I guess because he was RS he can declare.
Please post anything you find on him…I did see he went into LSU 6’6 266 lbs and is now 305 lbs. Dude is huge and they say he could put on a little more weight and still keep his quickness
From "Mocking The Draft"
Shockingly, neither Montgomery nor Mingo is LSU’s best sophomore defensive lineman. That would be tackle Michael Brockers. If he went pro after tonight’s game (which is merely a slight Internet rumor, at the moment) he would be a top 20 picks this year. Brockers’ game compares favorably to Gerald McCoy of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Like McCoy, Brockers is a long, strong tackle who can penetrate gaps with ease. But it’s his underrated run defense that makes Brockers ready for the NFL right now. If he decides to return for his junior season, Brockers could blossom into a top 10 pick in 2013.

He's 6'6"
When the “low man wins”, that could be concerning.

From what I saw Monday night, he looks like more of a 3-4 DE in the NFL.
What I mean is the 5 might be his best position…not saying he couldn’t be a beast in a 4-3, though—haven’t seen nearly enough of him.
I like to think of myself as a one-man wolfpack.
Eh, you can get low no matter how tall you are
Sure, you are at a slight disadvantage, but that is offset by the sudden major advantage you have deflecting balls at the LOS.

And blocking kicks...I guess.
Like he did Monday night.
I like to think of myself as a one-man wolfpack.
it be nice to have that guy back on special teams who can block the kick just by getting a good push and his arm up

Should also note that Brian Quick is a kick blocking specialist.
but I’m afraid his stock is now too high. Not even I can advocate picking him in the 2nd.

No way I'd take him in tge 2nd.
His tools are drool-worthy but he’s just too raw to justify a pick that high.

Even the App guys are saying it
So if we don’t think he’s a 2nd round pick, you know its true.

IMO, if Gettis is a 6th round pick (albeit in a loaded draft)
then Brian Quick is at best a 4th in an average draft.

If he was at the top of the fourth I'd jump to draft him.
He’s got elite measurables and from what I hear a pretty decent work ethic. The jump he made from his sophomore to his junior year was outstanding.

I don't think there is a such thing as a poor work ethic on the ASU team
Coach Moore’s program is extremely demanding from a conditioning standpoint… if you can’t hack it, you don’t survive.
He’s also a basketball convert, so you know he has the ability to learn and be molded.
His size and leaping measurables are off the charts, but he isn’t the top end speedster you’d want. Then again, niether is Larry Fitzgerald. Not saying that is his NFL doppleganger, just saying sometimes top end speed is overrated, especially if you’re dealing with a big receiver who will be super deadly on any jump ball or back shoulder throw.

Sure. To me... there is no such thing as a height disadvantage on the DL for being too tall.
To many extra advantages that offset them.
More passes deflected at the line
Larger wingspan for tackles, sacks, hitting the QBs arm
Kick blocking potential
Intimidation factor

And Gerald McCoy is not very good--or hasn't been so far.
Yes he’s battled injuries, but when he’s been fully healthy he has been average.
I like to think of myself as a one-man wolfpack.
He's been solid when healthy.
He was really coming on before his injury. No 3 pick worthy? Probably not, but no 9? Maybe.
I don't always fail, but when I do...
I do it awesomely.

He sounds like a monster

He could easily get to 320 with his frame.

Easy
He’s gonna get bigger and then with a little work you’ve got a pass-rushing NT.

Like Jax said when he got to LSU he was a DE but he keeps getting bigger. I think he is by far the best DT prospect in the draft if he does indeed declare. Id have him right up there with Fairley and Dareus from last year. He isn’t Suh but he has the potential to be a Monster with the right grooming. Cam was said to need development…look how well that has worked out

I he has all the potential and measurements we’re seeing, coupled with a good combine and weak DT class, any chance he could go before we even pick?
Sure.
Dareus built momentum through the combine and with his workouts. At this time last year he was a mid-first rounder, but ended up being the 3rd pick.
I like to think of myself as a one-man wolfpack.
If so that give us a great chance of having a player fall to us and give that pick value!
I hope he declares, but if he doesn’t I won’t be mad.

I still don't thik we take a DT in the first round
Although this may help us get one of those top 2 CBs
CAM....CAAAAAAAAM
That is my hope.
The more top 10 prospects in the pool to slide Claiborne down to our level, the better!

My guess is Carolina told him they would take him at 8 and he would get that money.
Just kidding but still, could be a good pick.
Kirkpatrick also declared
Along with WR Eric Page from Toledo. Guy i really like, said he wanted to be like Steve Smith. 125 grabs this past year. Probably a 3rd-5th rounder.

SO did Brockers declare?
Saw the headline on Claiborne, no mention of Brockers.
