Panthers vs. Saints Pre-Game Open Thread

CHARLOTTE, NC - DECEMBER 24: Members of the Carolina Panthers Cheerleaders perform during the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Bank of America Stadium on December 24, 2011 in Charlotte, North Carolina (Photo by Scott Cunningham/Getty Images)

The Panthers have talked about being chippy having not forgotten the game earlier this season in Charlotte. In that one Saints S Roman Harper laid a cheap shot on Steve Smith well after Smith scored a TD. After trailing for the entire game, the Panthers scored early in the 4th quarter to take the lead. The Saints would eventually win the game on a last minute TD that just sucked.

We are looking for a better result in this game...the is now an Open Thread!

Go Panthers!

Second that!

I’d like to not only beat them but beat them up – within the rules, of course. I’m hoping that D-Will is right and the team is itching to make a statement.

Harper’s a marked man, and I’ll bet that Smitty is ready to go off today.

I just finished reading the Defensive Preview thread and comments

One point that nobody made was how the NFL changed the rule about the QB being a defenseless player when he doesn’t have the ball anymore, especially after a turnover.

IMO, that should be called the Cheap-shot Saints rule after what they did to Favre and Warner.

And I still bet that if the Vikes or Cards EVER get a chance to lay out Drew Brees, they will.

Wow, it sucks so bad we have to wait 8 months for next season. Why so long turnaround time for Football! Basketball is just like 4 months. I think NFL’s schedule should be like this.. March- Draft, April- Rookie camps/OTAs, May training camp, June- Pre season, July- Regular season start! 8 months is so damn long. Wouldn’t you guys agree?

While there are no games, there will still be some stuff to talk about and the guys here stay on top of stuff.

Just dont throw a FIRST PLAY interception, and somehow take Jimmy Graham out of the game and we will be ok. I see a good one coming.

Whats gonna happen....

Here it is. The Panthers are going to come out and freakin punch the Ain’t’s in the freakin mouth. By half time the Panthers will have them saying: " ya know, we are in the playoffs with a home game. These guys are playing for blood. Let’s take or ass woopin, and be healthy for our playoff game".
Then the Panthers take this victory, and add it to the great last half of the season. This time next year we are posting: " well, we have home field locked up for the NFC. Do we rest our starters in this meaningless last game, or not".

"Success in anything we do in life is like building a house. Your talents are the bricks. You heart is the foundation. If you don’t have the foundation, all the talent in the world will crumble and fall".

I don't thik you will see anything like that unless the Saints start 1.

I know Williams said he will be playing chippy and might get a fine, but he also said he won’t be throwing a punch. I believe Rivera has told them to take their revenge out during the game play, within the rules.

Another reason to dislike Saints fans

Panther Fan:

congrats to drew brees for breaking the record. he’ s a great guy and a great QB. as for the game this weekend, i think the panthers win for two reasons. 1) the panthers offense has been insanely good lately and 2) i dont think drew brees plays the whole game. good luck in the playoffs. i hope yall destroy the falcons again and make it back to the superbowl. on a side note: i hope yall enjoy the success in the NFC south this year because carolina is gonna be sick next year

Saints Fan Response:

Sick in the stomach that the Saints came out on top once again. Your team needs more than Cam if they want to come out on top of the Saints. They need a new head coach, a new defensive coordinator, new GM, new scouts, new players and fans like ours. The last one I mentioned will never happen, so you can scratch that one. You still need all the others, wait a few years to let everyone jell together, then maybe, just maybe you may have a shot at going on top of the New Orleans Saints. Sorry GRAVE, the truth does hurt sometimes. But anyway, I’ll give you a big WHO DAT for thinking so greatly about your team.

I think the first thing the Panthers should do in the off season is get rid of that sorry excuse of a safety. He cant cover and he damn sure cant tackle. He should have striped that TD pass.
