The Carolina Panthers rounded out their practice squad this afternoon with three promising players, per Steve Reed
I'm thrilled to see Thomas Keiser get added to the squad. While he may be young, undersized and inexperienced he showed some serious drive in the preseason where he finished with 9 tackles and a sack in four preseason games. In time I think he could develop into a rather effective pass rusher with skill to play both in a 4-3 and 3-4 front.
Bryant Browning also played well in spot time at both guard spot during the preseason. While he's similarly raw to Keiser he could develop into an important rotational lineman.
The new name to this list is Jeff Byers, who was the subject of some minor drama when UDFA signings first came though. Originally it was reported he signed with Carolina, then it turned out he actually signed with the Denver Broncos. Now his status comes full circle as he signs with the Panthers to be part of their practice squad. An incredibly promising college player at USC his tenure in So Cal was marred by injury after being pegged to be Ryan Kalil's center as he moved to the pros. Long term he's a player with some exciting upside and experience playing both guard and center.
