Will Jon Beason play on Sunday when the Panthers face the Cardinals?
For the last few weeks I think most have assumed that Jon Beason will miss the season opener. However, he just posted the following Tweet:
I practiced yesterday for the 1st time this yr. It was modified obviously, but I'm looking forward to playing Sunday. JonBeason
This is really good news if true. Although player optimism doesn't always match coaches reality but this is definitely a good sign. We will have to wait for the injury report to find out how likely this is to come true.

If I'm Rivera, I'm telling my star MLB to sit this one out.
Especially since we have Connor. Granted, Beason is our defensive field general, but he should take the time necessary to back into playing condition, and most importantly really let those screws he had put in fully set.
Beason may be a star, but he is behind on the playbook and conditioning at the moment. I think he sits this one out.

I doubt he doesn't know the playbook. He hasn't been on the moon.
He just lacks reps in the system, and isn’t likely in football shape. Personally, if he feels good enough to play, I would put him out there for a few series just so he gets some gametime in.
That's what I mean
He can read it all day, but he needs field time in practice doing it.

he needs to sit this one out
heal up for the rest of the season
This has been a public service announcement.......
Tried to get rid of the blank space but it won't go away...oh well
Good news on the Beason front though…we at least need him on 3rd down though Gaither could probably fill in
Perhaps it is symbolic of our D without him?

My mistake...I fixed the other blank space too...

I hope he heals up, though we’ll need him.

Beason takes pride in his ironman moniker
The guy wants to be out there for every game of his entire career. If he’s ready to play, you’re going to have trouble keeping him under lock and key on the sideline.
If he feels good enough to play, put him out there.
Not advocating he plays the entire game, far from it. Throw him out there for a few series here and there.

It's a big, fat, "Please Don't Play!" from me...
He had the procedure so recently, I just think it’s much smarter to give it another week. During the Steeler’s game, he said that he was at 70%. I highly doubt he’s at 100% 1 1/2 weeks later. I know he’s the team’s leader, but he’ll be more effective over the course of the season if he can stay healthy and on the field most of the season. See Davis, Thomas. Even if you put him out there just for 1 or 2 series, it just takes one unpredictable split second for something to happen. Connor is an excellent back-up. Whether Beast plays the 1st week or not is highly unlikely to be the difference between making the playoffs or not.

Would love to see him out there...
But if he is, I’ll be holding my breath and crossing my fingers… He’s a beast, but I agree with you Jamie… Better to be safe than sorry on this one… We need the Beast for the rest of the season… We can manage a game or two without him to start off with… Our team still needs a few more weeks of prep before we start rolling… Everyone knows what Beason brings to the table… Patience is important this year!!!

Maybe it's just smoke and mirrors
Give the Cards something else to plan for come Sunday.
I say...sit this one out, there's no rush we are properly set at the LB position.
Plus maybe if Connor does really good we can trade him to a team that needs a MLB for something during the season.

I mean, don't want him rushing back on the field before he's ready, but I'm putting faith in the medical staff...
If they think he’s ready, then lets get ready to see some beastmode! And even if he’s not but he tries to get on the field, we can always hide his helmet ala Stephen Davis back in 2003 against Indy when he broke his arm but tried sneaking back in the game anyways lol
