Ask most NFL players and they'll tell you that the day cuts come through are terrible. Just a few moments ago the Carolina Panthers released RB Tyrell Sutton who has been with the team since 2009. A 'do-everything' type player Sutton aptly filled in at RB and FB when needed and typically excelled at both. This move is by no means an indictment of him as a player, but rather shows just how deep the Carolina Panthers are at the RB position.
The news itself was broken by Sutton via Twitter in a series of tweets as he said the following:
Been real Carolina but I'm gone. Thx for all the love n support n opportunity to continue playin ball here n Charlotte. I'm gon be str8. Personally: it sux cuz i gotta leave my brothers n friends tht ive made over the past couple seasons. Career: it's for the better. Now y'all c y I didn't put myself in the state of mind of assuming I made the team... Dnt be upset I'm gone. Carolina will be str8 without me. It's the nature of the beast. Can't take it personally. Deangelo @Jonathanstewar1 @GoodNplenty33 @TonyFiammetta y'all my brothers n Y'all have no idea how much I'll miss y'all. Thx 4 takin me in
If there's one saving grace behind this move it's that Sutton is completely right when he said 'it's for the better' regarding his career. In Carolina he was buried on a depth chart behind numerous stellar running backs in their own right, while somewhere else I have little doubt he would be an excellent #2 option for a team.
From everyone at CSR we wish Sutton the best and have no doubt he'll be one of the first pickups today for another team.
