Newton not about the $$$
I don't know the amount of Cam Newton's rookie contract, but does anyone else think that the offseason lockout has had anything to do with his performance. Look at other rookie quarterbacks who got paid millions before they even played a game i.e. Jamarcus Russell , Ryan Leaf, Vince Young. Personally I think the new negotiation that rookie's can't get the big contract right away has helped keep Newton humble. But if he keeps putting these performances up, we do need to pay him.

I agree
As long as he starts winning games. Once he improves in the red zone…. No stopping Optimus Prime
While Bradford money would be a huge bump in salary i think we would see the exact same determination in Newton. He isn’t trying to prove he can be a QB in the NFL so they he gets paid 5 years from now. He is trying to prove all the haters/doubters who questioned him not only as a football player but as a man who he truly is. Like he said before what he is getting paid is still a lot of money. More money then he has ever had. The big $$$ contract will come. Rather its now or later. As long as he does what he was drafted to do. Lead us to victorys

Agreed
I don’t think the amount on his contract affected his determination, he has all the cash he needs regardless. He has seven figure endorsement deals with Under Armour and GMC in addition to his NFL contract. My guess is that he is a winner at any pay grade.
Russell and Leaf were busts in the making, regardless of how much money they received.
Some players just aren’t cut out for the NFL.
Newton for '11 ROY!
Walker for '11 ROY!
Biyombo for '11 DPOY!
2 ways the lockout might have been good for Cam Newton...
1. Communication between players in defensive secondaries has been bad league-wide. Pass coverage just isn’t caught up to offenses yet with the lost practice of the offseason. Makes for more busted coverages and big pass plays.
2. A simplified work load. Perhaps if there hadn’t been a lockout Newton would have been asked to learn a lot more leading up to the season. It could be that the process of bringing him into the playbook slowly that was exacerbated by the work stoppage could actually be making it a bit easier for him.
