I think most of us could agree that Legedu Naanee is not quite as advertised. I for one can't say that I'm surprised, but I am disappointed. I didn't like the pick up when we first signed him. I understand that Chud wanted someone he was familiar with and who was familiar with him but it doesn't do much good if he's not productive. We were told of his great athletic ability and knowledge of the offense but it doesn't seem to translate. I, like many of you, am calling for LaFell. I find it unbelievable that he isn't starting. Brandon LaFell has shown his ability the past 2 games and had much promise coming out of last year. Meanwhile, Naanee had little to no production in San Diego, didn't wow in pre-season, and has done virtually nothing in his first 2 games.
Just look at the stat line: (this is over the first 2 regular season games with Naanee as the #2 and Lafell as the #3)
LaFell: 8 Catches, 119 yards, and a TD
Naanee: 3 Catches, 35 yards, 0 TDs
LaFell had a very good rookie season and seems to have improved since then. In the 2 games we have seen of him this year he has shown much improved hands and has made great catches, both in the air and on the sideline. He also has great runblocking ability and has size to go up against DBs. When we drafted him he was supposed to be another Moose. As I recall the Smith/Moose duo was quite productive.
Not that I'm hating on Naanee but he just hasn't lived up to the hype and Lafell has shown to be the more productive WR. I think it's time for Lafell to get his shot to play along with #89.
