The Panthers signed rookie DT Frank Kearse (6-4, 320, 5.30-40)of North Alabama off the Dolphins Practice Squad today. Kearse joins ex-Dolphins NT Ronald Fields who was signed by the Panthers around a week ago. Now the Panthers have 3 NT's, maybe it will allow McClain or Neblett to serve as a backup run stopping DE, or slide outside as a 3-4 DE if Hardy should drop back as a 4th LB.
To make room for Kearse, the Panthers cut recently signed G Reggie Wells. Wells is just a marginal backup, but it leaves the Panthers with only 3 backup O-Linemen (Bernadeau, Bell, and Ziemba). This probably means that they expect Otah to return to health very soon, maybe this weekend.
The Dolphins cut ex-Panther TE Dante Rosario today. The Cowboys cut 2nd year CB Bryan Mcann (5-10, 189, 4.29-40, 40.5 inch vertical) today. McCann was a UDFA signing from SMU, and played in 9 games with the Cowboys last season (15 tackles, 1 pass defended, and 1 int., which he returned 101 yards for a TD), meaning he's not eligable for a teams practice squad. He might be a good addition to the Panthers secondary with his great speed, and he might be better than Sanford.
