Hi all!
Being a Packer fan in the Triangle area is generally convenient - different divisions allow for easy cheering. But when my Packers showed up in Charlotte, well, a group of like-minded Packer fans and I clearly had to go see them. I'd been to BoA Stadium before (Panthers/Cardinals a few years ago, when the power went out in the middle of the game, but the refs kept time on the field and played on - awesome!), but never with a truly vested cheering interest in the game.
We tailgated early and hard, and the Panther fans near us were wonderful - they helped us with pictures, laughed at our continued shotguns (in fairness, we were laughing too), and were wonderfully congenial in the bathroom lines. This continued inside the stadium, where the home fans around me were wonderfully tolerant of my "Just throw it to Driver for one stinking yard!" screams (and my joy when he finally got that yard to break the all-time Packers receiving yards record), and shared my being impressed with Cam Newton. I was also impressed that the beer was cheaper than I expected. Hooray beer!
Really, I just wanted to come over here and thank both those of you who showed up over at Acme Packing Company before the game to answer questions and talk football, and the Panthers fanbase as a whole for being full of classy people. (I'm sure, as anywhere, there are the less savory fans, but I didn't encounter any, and I'm just going to pretend they don't exist.) I had a great time at BoA Stadium, even when the Packers were losing, which speaks volumes.
So yeah. Thanks! And you can count at least one more Panther fan among your number when y'all play the rest of the NFC North. Like Aaron Rodgers said, I'm really glad we faced Cam and your offense before he got more exposure to pro defenses. He's freakishly good and thrilling to watch. It's a good time to be a Panthers fan!
