Happy Friday Panthers' fans!
What a week... I don't know about you, but I need a beer and I need some football. We could be seeing the start of a revolution in the Carolina football landscape. We are seeing the seeds sewn in the masses as they start to take pride in the organization, and while much of this surrounds Cam Newton it's more accurate to give the credit to the front office who were willing to take the risk and make Newton the face of the franchise. Fans are endeared to the Panthers now, even with the likelihood of a losing season. Hope is a powerful motivator, and fans now have real hope this team will turn the corner.
In turn I decided to give the Brew for the Game to a brewery as local as it gets. Sadly, for those of us out of the greater Charlotte area this will be harder to find, but it is prolific throughout the city of Charlotte and that seems apropos for this Sunday's game.
OMB Copper

The Brewery: The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery is definitely a new kid on the block when it comes on the North Carolina brewery scene, but they've made a big impact since releasing their first batch of Copper in 2009. Committed to freshness and local availability it remains to be seen how far the reach of OMB will be, but if you're in the Queen City do yourself a favor and get one of these.
The Brew: A fairly typical altbier, OMB Copper is a complex, bready beer that tastes a little different with every sip. At 4.8% ABV it's not heavy on the alcohol either, making it perfect for tailgating.
How it relates to the game: Ron Rivera wants to set a standard of an 'our house' mentality at Bank of America stadium. What better way to support this movement than with a truly local beer seated right inside the reach of BoA stadium?
Price Point: Easiest way to purchase is by the growler (half gallon) which ranges between $20-$24
Where to find: Throughout the greater Charlotte area. You can check the listings here
