This is completely non-football related, but I feel I need to let as many people know as possible.
Outside of the editors nobody knew, but on Sunday night and into early Monday morning a close, close friend of mine, just 29 years old suffered a major heart attack. Thankfully he fought against the odds and this afternoon he opened his eyes again and began talking to his family and friends. This man was in shape, worked out all the time, had no family history or heart disease, yet he still had a heart attack.
Why am I telling you all this? Today the cardiologist told us what they believe could have been a large contributing factor to his heart attack, sleep apnea. This is the process by which the body goes through long periods during sleep where the body stops breathing before resuming again. Anyone of any age can be afflicted by sleep apnea, and it's easily treatable provided you get the tests done. So I urge each and every one of you, if you are a severe snorer, or know people who snore heavily please go or urge them to have a sleep test done. It may be a few hours of inconvenience, but I've seen the alternative first hand and trust me you would rather prevent whatever you can.
Thanks for your time.
