Predicting Carolina Panthers' Stats for 2011

It seems like every year turns out a lot differently than you'd expect.  But heck, it's the night before the season opener, so it's time to prognosticate.  Here is my prediction for our beloved Panthers in 2011:

QB

Cam Newton

2900 pass yards

650 rush yards

15 pass TDs, 13 Int.

6 rush TDs

RB

Deangelo Williams  1150 yards, 6 total TDs

Jonathan Stewart  800 yards 7 total TDs

Mike Goodson 350 yards, 2 total TDs

Receivers

Steve Smith  55 catches, 700 yards, 5 TD

Jeremy Shockey  50 catches, 550 yards, 5 TD

Greg Olsen 45 catches 550 yards 4 TD

Mike Goodson  35 catches, 300 yards, 1 TD

Armanti Edwards 35 catches 350 yards

Legedu Naanee 25 catches 275 yards

Brandon LaFell 25 catches 225 yards

Sacks

Charles Johnson 8

Greg Hardy 7

Charles Godfrey 5

Interceptions

Chris Gamble 5

Charles Godfrey 4

Jon Beason 4

Sherrod Martin 3

Agree?  Disagree?  Let's hear it Panther fans!!

i like these predictions

very grounded, but I think our secondary gets fewer interceptions than that…

Godfrey's a ballhawk

I put his ints up to 7 and his sacks down to 2. Also I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Greg Olsen leads all receivers this year. But I like the optimism you have with Cam. We get to find out tomorrow what everything is gonna look like!

how so?

30 TD’s isnt supergreat. cam’s numbers are below average passing wise. do you mean the running game? or the defense?

That would put Cam easily in the running for OROY

I am still thinking he will have a passing touchdown to interception ratio that is below one but an overall touchdown ratio of plus one.

Cam
2650 passing yards; 13 passing touchdowns; 17 interceptions; 5 rushing touchdowns; 435 rushing yards

that's conventional wisdom for sure

will be interesting to see if his avoiding turnovers trend can continue into the reg. season

I think we'll have more

rushing yards from the backs. Smith will have at least 800 yards if not more. I see Shockey with closer to 400 yards and Lafell with about 400 as well. Godfrey will have 1 or 2 sacks. I think Anderson will have several. He had 3.5 last year and McDermoth is going to blitz a lot more so i see him with 5 or 6
