Revisiting the 53 man roster prediction

Jordan Pugh moving to the Nickel back spot is one of the big changes in this update. (Photo courtesy of Panthers.com)

About ten days ago I put out my first 53 man roster prediction, you can find it here. After the first round of cuts my list is more or less intact. It's almost impossible to work out what is happening with the team, especially given we have more waiver pickups expected and more cuts to come, but I thought I'd take a second stab at it now.

Last breakdown I left in spots for waiver pickups, this time I wont do that. To be clear, I still expect the Panthers to get at least some help on the offensive line and at cornerback, but regardless I thought I would put out this 53 without any 'what ifs'.

Lol.....

Actually, I just had surgery on Tuesday. My wife had to go back to work and jokingly suggested Depends since I have a hard time getting out of the chair. The funny thing is, we have a pack of Depends that I got as a gag gift for my 40th birthday. Yesterday, I considered it for a minute. Lol

Pretty amazing if Bell makes the roster

considering that he was a UDFA although he is a beast size-wise. We could use some depth at that position.

Did Hogan Have A Sudden Healing?

At most I expected Hogan to make the PUP list, and the Panthers see if he’s ready between weeks 6 and 9. He still hasn’t practiced yet, has he? If Hogan is on the 53 man roster, won’t the Panthers need to carry another CB until he’s ready to play.

by PanthersRoar on Sep 1, 2011 10:02 AM EDT reply actions

He has been at practice, on the sidelines doing strength work since they opened in July.

I don’t know what’s going on there, though.

If they needed to put him on IR I would have expected it to happen. I think if they believe he can be ready by week 3 or 4 they’ll spend the spot on him over putting him on the PUP

I would keep Clowney

To see if he can play in regular season games as well as preseason. To me he is better than Naanee. So IR Pilares or cut Naanee. Now if a better option appears on the waiver wire, then I would dump Clowney.

by Panthster on Sep 1, 2011 10:07 AM EDT via mobile reply actions

Pilares may also end up on IR

So, does this mean you think Fiametta will be an all out release?

I don't believe Pilares hits IR

I disagree with Steve Reed on that.

As for Fiametta, I think he could be an all out release or a waived/injured. I think the signing of Felton over running with Hartsock as FB in the interim is auspicious.

by James Dator on Sep 1, 2011 10:26 AM EDT up reply actions

I don't think they IR him either...

It’s a 4-6 week injury. I think they can roll with the other 5 receivers for the first 5-6 games of the season.

The new player tendencies really mess up plans like this. I’ve had Goodson fumble only to be hit with the ‘prone to fumble’ tendency where he’ll keep putting the ball on the ground. Also seen Goodson afflicted with the ’doesn’t fight for yards’ and ‘drops easy passes’ tendencies.

quick question

Does everyone have those douchey oval stickers on their cars out there, or is it just the Charlotte yuppies who like to visit that do it?

by ppalm on Sep 1, 2011 11:12 AM EDT up reply actions

I hate seeing all those stupid stickers.

The one that really pisses me off is this one:

You’re not a “native” of SC unless you’re an American Indian and you’re ~500 years old. Sorry douche-nozzle…but there are no more “natives” left. We killed them all when we came here and took their shit.

They're absolutely fair

It’s basically the great equalizer in Madden this year to make sure you don’t min/max a roster for a single stat (like speed) then keep running tosses and sweeps. In prior years Goodson would fumble more often than the other backs but it was marginal at best, but now he can get in those multiple games he has.

by James Dator on Sep 1, 2011 10:50 AM EDT up reply actions

Too bad

I’ve always liked Jackson. Thought he was a pretty versatile RB to have on your bench. I’d anticipate someone making a claim.

Good Estimation on Roster

Just a few changes need to be made.

1. Cut Spinner Bait. (AKA what a waste of a draft day decision)
2. Cut Turnstile. (F…cking Useless)
3. Cut/ Injury settlement for Fiammatta. (Felton’s an upgrade)
4. Cut Neblett. (Not that good of a D linemen)
5..Cut Stanford. (Need upgades at CB’s maybe even cut 2 of them and bring in 2 new ones.)

That open’s up 4 roster spots to fill with our most pressing needs. Plus I think Fiammatta’s gone after the Felton pick up today.

by Smokewagon on Sep 1, 2011 11:27 AM EDT reply actions

I'd cut Hayden over Neblett...

Hayden just has no potential really to become anything more than a mediocre role player

Does anyone else think Burney could get snatched off the PS?

I’d honestly rather have him on the normal roster just to be safe.

He honestly hasn’t done anything in the pre-season to warrant another team taking him off our PS and putting him on their 53.

No...for real. (Although now that I see that, I should probably just claim the joke).

Yeah, I know—I’ve cried wolf too many times to be taken seriously. But that’s what I heard. And that would also explain why they are always so wrong.

If you’re for serial….

Why in the hell would the PR Dept. do the depth chart? Maybe that’s why Foxy always said “You’ll have to ask the PR Dept. about that”…maybe it was his way of making fun of the system.

And yes…when I spoon feed you a joke, you should take it. :-)

I hope so too...

But MacBern doesn’t even deserve the charity “hey you’ve been here longer” bump on the depth chart.

The only list he should be at the top of is the list of people to cut on Saturday.

I will be shocked

If Corvey Irvin starts. I think Balmer and Fua will be the week 1 starters. McClain looks lost and Irvin looks like he always has to me, average at best…I fully expect for Balmer to show us something tonight! I expect one of our UDFA’s to show out tonight as well…I’m talking to you Kendrick Burney!
