Edwards went down with a tear today and is out for the year, so what options do we have? On the Roster: Rookie Sione Fua or Andre Neblett. Rivera would probably like to avoid starting Fua right off the bat. Neblett played in the rotation last year and while dependable, he did not impress. Has shown up to camp a little out of shape according to some reports. UFA options: (I didn't list anyone with more than 12 yrs in the league because many of them are retired or close to it)
Chris Hovan (6-2, 296) 12 yrs Good player for the Rams but missed most of last season due to a back injury. This would be a risky move at best. Migh tbe leaning towards retirement.
John McCargo (6-2, 307) 4 yrs he was probably over-drafted by the bills in the first round, and was actually traded to IND before failing his physical. Again, risky but he doesnt have a lot of wear on his tires, and under the tutelage of Taylor Fernandez he had his moments for the Bills.
Clifton Ryan (6-4, 324) 5 yrs An original 5th rdr who has some decent speed (almost 5 flat in the 40), he bulked up a bit his first two years to become dependable but not spectacular for the Rams. Could be a good investment if he can be had on the cheapGerard Warren (6-4, 330) 11 yrs Bounced around a lot in the league but had a respectable 2010 for the Pats, finished with 38 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 16 games, 10 starts. Looks like the pickins are slim folks....out of all these, Warren might be the best but at 11 yrs in the league he may not have a lot left in the tank. Feel free to throw more names out on this list, this is the best I could do using the lists on Roto, ESPN and the NFL site.
