Former North Carolina star Hilee Taylor did not report to the Detroit Lions training camp and decided to retire, his agent said.
A defensive end from Laurinburg and Scotland County High School, Taylor was a seventh-round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2008. He played 16 career games for the Panthers and was waived early in training camp. The Lions claimed him, but he did not report.
"Hilee made a personal decision to pursue other opportunities beyond football and start a new chapter in his life," agent Kevin Omell told the Detroit Free Press.
