SI's Peter King reports the Panthers may have interest in PHI CB Joselio Hanson

Peter King is reporting CAR may have some interest in PHI CB Joselio Hanson.  With NYG now on the market for corners, although they may sign Brian Williams today to offset the preseason losses of their top 3 CBs, CAR may have to consider a trade to get a serviceable CB for the season if the camp attendees dont appear to be starter grade material.  King's logic largely revolves around the connection between Hanson and CAR new DC McDermott.

King is reporting the Hanson could be had for a 3rd of 4th rd pick, which seems high for a guy who has not started too much during his career and has 4 INT in 6 seasons.  Also he seems more in the mold, at least physically, of another guy already on the roster, Captain Munnerlyn :

Hanson is a short, compactly built cornerback with excellent athleticism and deceptive strength. He has the quickness, foot agility and speed to be a valuable player in sub packages, but lacks outstanding burst and pure coverage ability to play out on an island versus top receivers. He has a tough time to free himself versus larger blockers when supporting the run. He appears to have a good feel for leverage as both a run and pass defender as plays unfold. Hanson is a solid core special-teams player who also provides needed depth in the Eagles' secondary.

I personally say pass and wait on someone else, apparently Lito Sheppard and Dre Bly worked out for NYG, maybe they would be better options.  Anyway, a 3rd or 4th for Hanson seems to steep to me.  We need a guy who can cover deep and is a little taller physically in my book, not a roll-up CB who gets tangled up on deep routes.

Thoughts?
