I posted a Poll a few weeks ago reguarding whether the Panthers should try to trade for S Taylor Mays (6-3 1/8, 230, 34 inch arms, 10 1/4 inch hands, 4.31-40, "unofficially" a 4.24 at the Combine, 24 bench reeps, 41 inch vertical, 10-5 broad jump), who was the 49ers #49 pick in 2010. This was prompted by a report that the 49ers had e-mailed all 31 other teams that Mays was available for a trade. He had dropped to 4th on their depth chart at SS as well, and it was suggested they would cut him if they couldn't trade him.
A rumor circulated just a few days ago, among 49ers players that the Beasrs had made an offer Mays, but the 49ers turned it down. Well, now Mays has been traded to the Bengals for an undisclosed draft pick, it could be a conditional pick based upon how he performs this season as well. So the Panthers will be playing against Mays this week rather than with him.
With the Panthers Mays might have been a SS/OLB Hybred, but it's expected he will remain a S with the Bengals, even tough he takes poor tackling angles.
