A homegrown product of SC, DT Ryan Sims, was cut by SEA today. The 31 yr old played collegiately at UNC. In 9 years of service in the trenches, the 6-4, 315 lbs DT has recorded 143 tackles and 8.5 sacks. The knock on him has been his ability to pass rush, but he has good speed and excellent upper body strength. He has been fairly durable for both TB and KC, having started 5 of his 9 seasons in service for both. I could see CAR perhaps taking a look at him to fill out the ranks and providing some guidance for the younger players at DT. Being that he is from SC, he might be willing to come in for a discount to plant his feet in CAR soil again.
