NFL Network's Jason La Canfora is of the opinion that
Daunte Culpepper could help the
Panthers with a veteran presence on the field at QB. The veteran QB from the University of Central Florida reports that he is "squatting 500 pounds" and is in great shape. Many Panthers fans will remember the 2005 lick we laid on him at BOA which resulted in PCL,MCL and ACL tears in his knee. After leaving MIN for MIA, his play after rehabbing his knee landed him the honor of accelerating the trade for
Trent Green by the
Dolphins, and he earned the further honor of playing for the only totally defeated team in NFL history, the
Detroit Lions, in 2009.
Per La Canfora:
"Teams like Baltimore lack a true No. 2 quarterback, or anything close to it at this point. How much Culpepper has to offer, and which role he can fill, remain to be seen. But given the state of quarterbacking in some spots, I can't see why a team or two wouldn't be willing to at least look for themselves." Among other teams mentioned who might be interested in his services, besides BALT, were the Panthers.
Dunno about this one folks, since Chud has a history with
Derek Anderson, and probably lobbied the Panther brass to grab him, I dont see him advocating to get Culpepper. Since Culpepper was also available at the same time they inked DA, one has to wonder if they decided to pass on Culpepper right out of the gates. But, since DA hasnt impressed so far in camp (it should be pointed out he hasnt gotten many snaps though), who knows.......
