That secondary is getting mighty crowded isn't it?
In a move that likely has no impact on the starters, but means something on special teams the Carolina Panthers have added former Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles S Sean Considine to a one year deal. The link here is clear, Sean McDermott, who worked with Considine in Philly under Jim Johnson. He's a hard hitting 28 year old who has filled in as a starter at a pinch throughout his career, but in Carolina he doesn't really figure to move the needle when it comes to the starting spots.
The most curious thing about the secondary signings is that they all seem to be lateral moves. None of the safeties added to the roster are true starting caliber guys, but all represent significant upgrades when it comes to overall depth. If you'd told me the Panthers were going to add three safeties, but just one corner I wouldn't think it was possible... but as this FA period has shown, with the Panthers you need to prepare to be surprised.
