Today at 4:01 PM teams are allowed to start releasing players, so I'm sure we'll have plenty to talk about this afternoon (especially if Kasay is released like we have been told he will be).
Yesterday we had a great day full of open threads, so let's keep the comments coming today, Panthers fans! We certainly have plenty to be excited about.
News and notes of the the past few days:
- In case you somehow missed it, the Panthers locked up Charles Johnson long term. You can read the story here.
- The Panthers will release a full list of UDFAs they've reached agreements with today
- DT Barry Cofield signed with the Washington Redskins. This is important because Cofield and Seattle'sBrandon Mebane represent the best two FA DTs this year.
- QB Matt Hasselbeck just signed with the Tennessee Titans, which quickly whittles down the free agent QB market.
- The Bucaneers reached the first agreement with a 1st round pick as they locked up DE Adrian Clayborn to his rookie contract.
- The Panthers have agreed to a contract with DT Ron Edwards. You can read the story here.
- DeAngelo Williams is back! 5 years, $43M ($21M guaranteed). Read about it here.
- The Panthers have signed former Jets TE Ben Hartsock to a 2 year deal. More information here.
- In probably the biggest WTF moment of the offseason thus far, the Panthers have signed K Olindo Mare to a 4 year, $12M contract. More information on this signing here.
- In one fell swoop, James Anderson and Thomas Davis were re-signed to 5-year contracts. The Panthers have also added two more DB's to the roster: CB Cletis Gordon and S De'Von Hall. Details of their deals can be found here.
- In what can only be described as an emotional move, it appears that K John Kasay will be released today.Apparently the front office told him they were going to go in another direction, thus explaining the signing of Olindo Mare on Wednesday.
- The Panthers have released their official training camp schedule. You can find it here.
As always, stay tuned to CSR for any breaking stories throughout the day.
